What you get
About this experience
Discover the wonders of the Renaissance with a private guided tour of Florence’s Accademia Gallery. Begin in the Hall of the Colossus, where Giambologna’s original plaster model of The Rape of the Sabines is surrounded by works from the 15th–16th century Florentine Mannerist school. Continue to the Hall of the Prisoners, home to Michelangelo’s unfinished Prisoners—figures that seem to emerge from the marble, symbolizing the soul’s struggle for freedom. Here you’ll also see St. Matthew and the Palestrina Pietà, both linked to Michelangelo. The highlight is David, standing at the end of the gallery in all his grandeur. A masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture, David inspires with his size, precision, and emotional power. Your expert guide will offer insights and stories that bring each piece to life, making this a memorable visit to one of the world’s most treasured museums.

Galleria dell'Accademia
The Accademia Gallery in Florence is one of Italy’s most famous museums, best known for housing Michelangelo’s iconic statue of David. Founded in 1784, the museum was originally intended as a teaching space for students of the Academy of Fine Arts. Today, it features an exceptional collection of Renaissance art, including other sculptures by Michelangelo such as the Prisoners and St. Matthew. Visitors can also explore rooms filled with Florentine paintings from the 13th to 16th centuries, as well as a fascinating museum of musical instruments. Though compact, the Accademia offers a rich and unforgettable glimpse into Florence’s artistic heritage.

David Di Michelangelo
Michelangelo’s David is one of the most renowned sculptures in the world and a masterpiece of Renaissance art. Created between 1501 and 1504, the statue represents the biblical hero David before his battle with Goliath. Carved from a single block of Carrara marble, the 5.17-meter (17-foot) tall figure is celebrated for its exquisite detail, anatomical precision, and powerful expression of human strength and beauty. Originally placed in Piazza della Signoria, David was moved to the Accademia Gallery in 1873 to protect it from damage. Today, it remains a symbol of Florence’s artistic and cultural legacy.

Meeting David
I took a tour with the private guide at the Galleria dell'academia to see David. It was wonderful! The guide is named Janiel and was very attentive and explained very well. We used, also the audio guide that gave explanations in the Portuguese language. The tour was very good. Thank you Janiel👏🏼👏🏼

Highly recommend
Natalia was our guide and extremely knowledgeable. She was able to answer all of our questions and showed us details in the museum that other tour guides would normally overlook. Highly recommend!
Response from the operator: Dear Linda, what a joy to read your review! We work diligently to enhance the quality of the content we provide, not only in terms of updating our galleries and exhibits. Thank you for writing to us and confirming that our efforts are well-directed. We look forward to welcoming you to a new experience in the city or amidst the Tuscan hills. Warm regards, ACCORD Team

Excellent private tour of the David by Michelangelo with Claudia of Accord Tours
We had an amazing private tour with a wonderful guide, Claudia was so knowledgeable and clearly versed in history and artt of the Roman culture and church history. She has passion for sharing her expertise and spoke beautifully. Our two teenage daughters were interested and engaged the entire time and that is a feat in itself. We would highly recommend Accord and especially Claudia
Response from the operator: Dear B., thank you for your review. Your opinion is always very important. We are glad you enjoyed our service and our guide Claudia 😊 We hope to see you in the future for new experiences! Kind regards Accord Team

Why this scores 61
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
The Accademia Gallery in Florence with your private guide: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Florence.
How much does The Accademia Gallery in Florence with your private guide cost?
+
Prices start at $59 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Florence usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The Accademia Gallery in Florence with your private guide take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Florence is not rushed.
Is The Accademia Gallery in Florence with your private guide worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Florence, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule The Accademia Gallery in Florence with your private guide?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is The Accademia Gallery in Florence with your private guide suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book The Accademia Gallery in Florence with your private guide?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Florence can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Florence and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The Accademia Gallery in Florence with your private guide start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Florence within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Florence?
+
On Outty we rank every Florence experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Best tour in Florence: Renaissance & Medici Tales - guided by a STORYTELLER, Florence Pizza or Pasta Class & Gelato Making at a Tuscan Farm, Small group Tuscan Wineries, Olive Oil & Gourmet Lunch or Dinner. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Florence?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Florence?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
