    Unique experience

My mom and I took the Tequila Express recently and it was an incomparable experience. We booked directly through Tequila Express to save a little time in the morning. Instead of getting picked up at our hotel by a tour and starting at the Chamber of Commerce with coffee and pastry, we took an uber directly to the train station. The train station is beautiful. We thought we could pick up snacks before the trip but there wasn't a place to. The train leaves at 10:30 and we only needed to check in and get a wrist band. Arriving at 10 would give you plenty of time. The train is a leisurely two hour trip to Tequila. We booked the first class cabin which had very comfortable seating and excellent staff. The tour was only in Spanish. We were offered little sandwiches, a cocktail and two tastings of tequila (blanco and anejo). When we reached the town of Tequila, we boarded a bus for a field demonstration (bring a hat and sunscreen) and then a tour of the Sauza tequila factory. This part of the trip was a bit disorganized. We transferred to a different group to hear the explanations in english and spanish which meant a lot of standing around. We had a lovely meal along with entertainment after the tour. This was extremely well done and everyone was having a good time. Be prepared this is pretty late in the day so snack well earlier. The meal was followed by some free time in the town of Tequila which is a pretty little pueblo magico. We took a bus back to the train for another leisurely ride back although most folks were having a blast with free flowing tequila. Once we returned to the train station we caught another uber back to our hotel. All in all the staff was amazing and worked incredibly hard. We aren't big drinkers, but the train was beautiful and I'm glad we had this unique experience. To note- Jose Cuervo offers a different train experience. You can only take the train one way and the bus the other. This train leaves 90 minutes earlier in the morning.

Response from the operator: Hi! Thank u so much for your review, for us is very important your opinion, we hope we can improve the agility of the tour so you guys have a great time on the factory, hope to see you again!

Top notch tour of tequila and A+

This was a 7 out of 5. It was such a well planned tour of Tequila (tequila making, restaurant and tour of the historic town/shops). We loved it!

A tour of a lifetime! Tequila!

The tour guide Sofia was very well informed and extremely entertaining. I really enjoyed learning about the 5 different types of tequilas. My favorite one would be the one that was free 😆 I enjoyed learning to properly savor the tequila. One small recommendation I would say is to add a few chairs for the elderly at each stop during the tour. My mom would have enjoyed it much more. Otherwise, the entire experience was very memorable. I highly recommend booking a tour.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your comments. We are glad that you´ve learned a little about Tequila and our culture, hope to see you again soon.

Lots of fun! But don’t think this is the train experience

The Tequila express is a great experience that takes care of you from beginning to end, providing Tequila pretty much the entire time. My husband and I had a lot of fun and also learned about the tequila process and industry. A few things to note, this is not the train experience. It’s a bus. The bus is comfortable though and it even has a restroom. You meet in Guadalajara and get driven about an hour away to tequila and then head back around 5pm. I wish they provided more complementary tequila options, they only provided our group with 2 types, silver and reposado. I thought that was cheap cause there’s way more tequilas by Sauza. Great ambience! The hosts is amazing, the whole team was. I loved the mariachi and dance performance.

    Tequila Express: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Guadalajara.

How much does Tequila Express cost?

    +

Prices start at $360 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Guadalajara usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tequila Express take?

    +

Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Guadalajara is not rushed.

    Is Tequila Express worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 114 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Guadalajara, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tequila Express?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tequila Express suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tequila Express?

    +

Around 40 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Guadalajara can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Guadalajara and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tequila Express start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Guadalajara within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Guadalajara?

    +

On Outty we rank every Guadalajara experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Luxury Tequila Experience: VIP Tastings & Boutique Distilleries, Full Day Tour to Tequila and Amatitán with Fun and Culture, The Fire TOUR - Pyramids, Volcanoes, Agaves & Tequila. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Guadalajara?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Guadalajara?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Tequila Express?

    +

Included: Carbonated beverages; In-vehicle air conditioning; On-board restrooms; and Alcoholic beverages. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

Where is the meeting point for Tequila Express?

    +

Boarding the bus at Av. Ignacio L. Vallarta #4095, Don Bosco Vallarta, 45000 Zapopan, Jal., Mexico and departure at 9:30 am to the train station at Av. Washington #11 to board the train cars at 10:00 am Hotel pickup is not included, so plan your own transport and arrive 15 minutes early.

What languages is Tequila Express offered in?

    +

It is offered in English and Spanish. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.

Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Tequila Express?

    +

Confirmation is sent by the operator after booking, usually within 48 hours; if it is not confirmed you are not charged. Mobile tickets are accepted, so you can show the voucher on your phone.

    +

The operator notes: Wheelchair accessible; Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller; Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap; and Transportation options are wheelchair accessible. If accessibility is critical, contact the operator after booking to confirm arrangements for your date.

What happens to Tequila Express if the weather is bad?

    +

This experience depends on good weather. If it is canceled because of poor weather, you are offered a different date or a full refund.

What do travelers say about Tequila Express?
