What you'll see and do
Candelaria
Candelaria is an important pilgrim site and many of its visitors come to the Basilica to the shrine of the Black Madonna, who is the patron saint of the Canary Islands. On the square in front of the Basilica on the edge of the sea, the Plaza de Patrona de Canarias, there are 9 colossal statues of Guanche (Aboriginal) chiefs along the sea wall. The old town of Candelaria is pleasant and the main square has plenty of bars and nice shops. You can find some lovely wooden balconies typicals of Canarian architecture. There is also a nice promenade along the sea-front and a small harbour. You can visit the Cave Chapel of San Blas, the Basilica, have a coffee or a snack.

Welcome to the Realm of Mystery! Your are going to visit a LEPROSY including a Spanish Fascism style church and military quarter. All this together with enchanting beaches and beautiful white villages. Wonderful views of the Atlantic 0cean and the nearby mountains are wating for us too. We will do a very easy walk of about 3 hours round trip. We will start from a picturesque white hamlet located next to a beautiful beach with golden sand. From this place we will walk directly to the mysterious abandoned Village of Lepers. These are 40 buildings of SPANISH FASCIST STYLE (late-Francoism) that impose on the eye. The curious thing is that all these buildings were built to serve as Leprosy. They had a crematorium, a very impressive CHURCH, a school, a hospital, recreational spaces and accommodation blocks. Of course we will visit the famous Cathedral of Lepers. You will take pictures and receive a lot of interesting information about the fascinating history of this mysterious place.

Caves in rock; over the top Basilica
The driver, Theo, was great. He tailored the tour to our interests . we saw a little village with cave homes and then a visit to the charming town of Candelaria, with a church. Square with statues of aboriginal kings (mostly slaughtered by the Spanish) and a Franco-ordered Cathedral with a rare Virgin Mary of a darker hue. We had lunch at hillside restaurant where we had a selection of tapas recommended by our guide. These included a chickpeas and pork stew; a selection of goat cheese with three sauce;s; and a savory roast goat meat that was melt in your mouth; along with usual canarian potatoes
Response from the operator: Hello Bernard, I'm glad you liked the photos I took of you. Thank you for this review!

Unknown places in Tenerife
Theo really a “super” good storyteller with a very broad knowledge in terms of history, culture and so much more. We enjoyed it 100%!!!

Great Shore Excursion in Tenerife
Theo was an excellent guide. He explained our options and helped us decide what would best help us take advantage of our shore excursion time in Tenerife. He was very knowledgeable and provided us with an excellent experience. We were a party of four people. Having a private guide worked very well for us. He was very responsive to our questions before we arrived. He also gave us simple directions where to meet him, and he was there right on time.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much Craig for all those nice words about your experience on our island. You are wonderful people and it was a pleasure to spend a whole day together. All the best to you and your family!

Original places.
This tour gives the opportunity to walk around impressive places, less spectacular and known than other more famous sites, but closer to local people and culture. Trust your guide to find a nice local restaurant to make the tour fully successful. Just be conscious that a little walking is required.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much Philippe for this wonderful review. See you again on our beautiful island!

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Tenerife Alternative VIP Private Tour. - photos included: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tenerife.
How much does Tenerife Alternative VIP Private Tour. - photos included cost?
+
Prices start at $378 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tenerife usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Tenerife Alternative VIP Private Tour. - photos included take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tenerife is not rushed.
Is Tenerife Alternative VIP Private Tour. - photos included worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tenerife, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Tenerife Alternative VIP Private Tour. - photos included?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Tenerife Alternative VIP Private Tour. - photos included suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Tenerife Alternative VIP Private Tour. - photos included?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tenerife can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tenerife and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Tenerife Alternative VIP Private Tour. - photos included start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tenerife within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tenerife?
+
On Outty we rank every Tenerife experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Whale watching & listening Eco-Catamaran Tour with Snacks &Drinks, Group Surfing Lesson at Playa de las Américas, Tenerife, 3-hour Whale and Dolphin Watching and Listening Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tenerife?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tenerife?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
