About this experience
Step into the shadows of America’s oldest city on a spine-tingling adults-only ghost tour through haunted St. Augustine. This isn’t your typical history lesson—this is the dark side of paradise, where whispers of murder, madness, and mayhem echo through centuries-old streets. Led by an expert storyteller, you’ll journey through eerie alleyways and forgotten corners, uncovering chilling tales too twisted for daytime tours. Ghostly echoes of long-dead pirates, prisoners, and lovers. These aren't just legends—they’re the real stories that locals whisper about after dark. Our tour brings you up close to some of the city’s most haunted landmarks—no jump scares, just raw, unnerving history that clings to the cobblestones. Whether you're a skeptic or a true believer, you’ll feel the chill as you walk in the footsteps of the dead. Mature themes, vivid storytelling, and an atmosphere charged with the unknown make this a ghost tour you won’t forget.

Rated G minus
$70 not well spent This tour should include Barney and Baby Shark.. And because I did not stay on for an hour and a half.. No refund Very disappointed after seeing on TripAdvisor that it's rated the #1 thing to do!! Are you kidding me? Take one of the drive around tours! Wish I would have
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the tour did not match the experience you were expecting. Telling Elegies is specifically designed as an adults-only walking tour with darker historical subject matter and stories, so we understand that it may not be the right fit for every guest. We also understand your frustration regarding the refund request after leaving the tour early. We appreciate you giving us a try and sharing your perspective.

Value for your money?
This tour is a true one and one half hour long. The stories were interesting and according to our guide true & documented. Our guide spoke clearly with her own little personality traits which always adds a nice touch. The downside was too much walking/lag time between stops/stories. My other point would be they charge more than anyone else does and we have enjoyed a better ghost tour in St Augustine than this one provided.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the stories, appreciated that they were based on documented history, and found your guide’s personality engaging. We also appreciate your comments regarding the amount of walking and time between stops. The tour is designed as a full 90-minute walking experience, but we understand that the pacing and walking may not be what every guest prefers. We’re grateful you gave us a try and shared your honest perspective.

scammed
the meeting point was vague. No one ever heard of the Telling Elegies Tour. There weren't even tickets to print. We got scammed.
Response from the operator: We’re sorry to hear you had difficulty locating the meeting point. Our meeting instructions are provided through the Viator confirmation, and many guests are able to locate and join this tour using those details each week. Printed tickets are not required for our tours. Guests can check in using their Viator booking information. We also want to clarify that this is a legitimate Ghost City Tours experience offered through Viator, and we’re sorry there was confusion around the tour name or arrival process.

Nice in theory but our experience was boring
This wasn't a walking ghost tour so much as a standing around listening to approximate history tour. We spent almost 30 minutes (out of 90) at the fort even though the entire group was freezing and miserable in the weather. After that rough start, we went to three more locations before hitting the last three on the same street in the last 15 minutes. It was not scary and actually so boring it felt like being transported back into high school history taught by a substitute teacher. Even those of us who are huge history buffs found it so dry. The guide was constantly confusing names too. We definitely weren't scared and didnt feel like we learned much. In fact, of our group of 6, five of us seriously considered cashing in on their money-back guarantee. Ultimately we decided against it because it may have just been our specific guide. In general, we really appreciated that it was adults only and dog friendly. An earlier start than 930 would've been better though, especially on the weekend when downtown is rowdier than you'd expect for St Augustine.

Entertaining ghost stories.
Dannie (or Donnie not sure) was great. He was a very good storyteller and also very knowledgeable. It was entertaining but it was not as scary or gory as I expected for an adults only tour and maybe could have used a couple more ghost stories. Otherwise, very good.

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Telling Elegies Adults Walking Tour in Saint Augustine: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for St Augustine.
How much does Telling Elegies Adults Walking Tour in Saint Augustine cost?
+
Prices start at $35 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in St Augustine usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Telling Elegies Adults Walking Tour in Saint Augustine take?
+
Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in St Augustine is not rushed.
Is Telling Elegies Adults Walking Tour in Saint Augustine worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 81 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in St Augustine, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Telling Elegies Adults Walking Tour in Saint Augustine?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Telling Elegies Adults Walking Tour in Saint Augustine suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Telling Elegies Adults Walking Tour in Saint Augustine?
+
Around 28 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in St Augustine can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in St Augustine and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Telling Elegies Adults Walking Tour in Saint Augustine start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central St Augustine within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in St Augustine?
+
St Augustine is walkable history: Castillo de San Marcos, Spanish quarter walking tours, trolley loops, lighthouse climbs and some of the best-attended ghost tours in the country. Guide storytelling quality is the main variable. On Outty we rank every St Augustine experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Medieval Torture Museum with Ghost Hunting and Tiny Art Gallery, St. Augustine's Wine, Cocktail and Food Experience, Dolphin and Wildlife Adventure of St. Augustine. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit St Augustine?
+
February to May and September to November. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in St Augustine?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
