Mulkirigala Raja Maha Vihara (also known as Mulgirigala Raja Maha Vihara) is an ancient Buddhist temple in Mulkirigala, Sri Lanka. It has been built on a 205 m (673 ft) high natural rock, surrounded with another four rocks known as Benagala, Kondagala, Bisogala and Seelawathiegala. Clamber in a sweat up the 500 or so steps and you’ll encounter a series of seven cleft-like caves on five different terraced levels. 2. Wewurukannala Vihara

A 50m-high seated Buddha figure – the largest in Sri Lanka – is a highlight of this somewhat gaudy temple, which is often thronged with worshippers. 4. Hummanaya Blow Hole

Hummanaya Blowhole is the only known blowhole in Sri Lanka and it is considered to be the second largest blowhole in the world. "Hummanaya" ( the blow hole ) refers to the noise, "hoo", that can be heard a distance away when the blowhole is active. Hummanaya is a natural blowhole, and caused when sea water rushes through a submerged cavern and is pushed upwards. The sea water flows underneath the shore, and then comes out of this hole due to pressure. The water fountain created by the geological feature shoots up every couple of minutes, depending on the nature of the sea, with the spray often reaching as high as 25 m (82 ft) to 30 m (98 ft)

More Than a Driver—A True Sri Lankan Experience

We had an incredible experience with Shehan starting with a sightseeing tour in Tangalle. From the very beginning, he was extremely punctual, and his car was in excellent condition—clean, comfortable, and reliable. What truly stood out was his kindness and the utmost care he took with our infant. Traveling with a little one can be stressful, but Shehan made us feel completely at ease throughout the sightseeing. He is also a wealth of information, sharing great insights about the local culture and history. We were so impressed that we booked him again for our trip to Galle and our final transfer from Weligama to Colombo airport. As a thoughtful finishing touch, he even went out of his way to get us authentic Sri Lankan curry powders because we loved the local food so much! If you are looking for a professional, friendly, and family-oriented guide, do not hesitate to contact him. Highly recommended!"

A Friend in Sri Lanka: Seamless Travel with an Infant "Exceptional Service and Heartfelt Hospitality Highly Recommended

We initially booked Shehan for just one trip, but after experiencing his professionalism, we ended up booking him for our excursions to Galle and our final transfer from Weligama to Colombo Airport. There are several reasons why Shehan stands out: • Punctuality & Communication: He was extremely punctual and his communication was top-notch. Everything was clear from the start, which made our planning stress-free. • Vehicle Comfort: The vehicles were in pristine condition and thoughtfully equipped with water and pillow cushions—small details that made a big difference in comfort. • Family Friendly: Traveling with an infant can be challenging, but Shehan was incredibly mindful and patient, ensuring our little one was safe and comfortable throughout the journey. • Going Above and Beyond: He is a very polite and friendly person. He even went out of his way to source authentic Sri Lankan curry powder for us upon our request! Shehan is an extremely trustworthy and genuine guy. We didn’t just find a reliable driver; we feel like we made a true friend in Sri Lanka. If you are looking for a seamless and high-quality travel experience, look no further than Shehan.

    Engaging and flexible tour

Amazing trip where our guide Shehan was very knowledgeable, thorough to show us everything whilst also being flexible with our preferences and needs. We saw an incredible amount and were truely guided through the temples and sights. Wanted to make extra stops such as to a souvenir shop and were never rushed even though it was late in the evening. A very pleasant day, the best of our Sri Lanka trip.

Tangalle Sightseeing Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Galle.

How much does Tangalle Sightseeing Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $10 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Galle usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Tangalle Sightseeing Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Galle is not rushed.

Is Tangalle Sightseeing Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Galle, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Tangalle Sightseeing Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Tangalle Sightseeing Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Tangalle Sightseeing Tour?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Galle can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Galle and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Tangalle Sightseeing Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Galle within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Galle?

    +

On Outty we rank every Galle experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full day / Half Day WildlifeAdventure in Yala-National-Park, Special leopard & Elephants safari - Yala - 04.30 am to 11.30 am, Sea waves sri lankan cooking class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Galle?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Galle?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
