    Highly recommend

This was one of the highlights of our trip! My son and I spent a very enjoyable morning with Susanthi, learning how to make Sri Lankan curries. The trip to the fish and vegetable markets to select the ingredients was very informative, and a great way to start the day. Susanthi and her family were warm and very hospitable, and the kitchen area where you cook and eat, was idyllic. My teenage son found the recipes easy to follow and said it was the best curry he’d ever tasted! I would have no hesitation in recommending this experience, or dining in their restaurant that is currently open from midday for lunch and dinner.

Great value, family friendly and memorable

My wife, 2 kids (7 & 9) and I enjoyed a cooking class with Susanthi. The class started with a trip to the fish and fresh produce markets where we were taught about the local ingredients. We then returned to the class for our lesson. Susanthi was very knowledgeable of the finer points to Sri Lankan cooking and accomodating with the four children in our group. We finished with a meal, which was exceptional. I highly recommend this class as a part of your Sri Lankan journey. On a side note: we struck up a conversation about getting around the island and Susanthi's husband, Virage, drove us to our new destination. It a brand new car, hes was a top driver and very knowledgeable. Id recommend using him if you are after a safe, professional driver

    Amazing!

Our family just spent a wonderful morning with Susanthi!! Our kids had a fabulous time learning about the local seafood and vegetables. Susanthi is a wonderful host and very knowledgeable about Sri Lankan cooking. She was so welcoming, we felt like family and learnt so much about Sri Lankan food and culture.

    Very experienced chef and...

Very experienced chef and authentic cooking style. Curries tasted delicious as well. Host called immediately after booking to change the class timing and thankfully our schedule allowed for it.

More Than a Cooking Class – A Taste of Sri Lankan Hospitality

Our group of five had a fantastic time with Susanthi. The visit to the local markets was a great introduction, and her explanations and cooking instructions were clear and easy to follow. She is a warm and welcoming host, and meeting her lovely family, especially her grandchildren, made the experience even more memorable. The relaxed atmosphere, authentic Sri Lankan cooking, and delicious lunch made this one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommended! 👍👍👍👍

Sea waves sri lankan cooking class: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Galle.

How much does Sea waves sri lankan cooking class cost?

    +

Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Galle usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sea waves sri lankan cooking class take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Galle is not rushed.

Is Sea waves sri lankan cooking class worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 90 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 507 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Galle, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sea waves sri lankan cooking class?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sea waves sri lankan cooking class suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sea waves sri lankan cooking class?

    +

Around 177 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Galle can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Galle and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sea waves sri lankan cooking class start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Galle within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Galle?

    +

On Outty we rank every Galle experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full day / Half Day WildlifeAdventure in Yala-National-Park, Special leopard & Elephants safari - Yala - 04.30 am to 11.30 am, Galle Unawatuna Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Galle?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Galle?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
