Marcus Made the Backstage Tour Exceptional!

We had a fabulous Backstage Tour of the Sydney Opera House, and our guide, Marcus, made the experience truly exceptional. He was incredibly knowledgeable and had an amazing understanding of how the entire Opera House works behind the scenes—from the theatres and stages to all the fascinating details that most visitors would never know. Marcus was engaging, enthusiastic, and clearly passionate about the Opera House. He also had a great sense of humor, which made the tour even more enjoyable. He explained everything in such an interesting way and was happy to answer our questions throughout the tour. We came away with a completely new appreciation for this extraordinary building and everything that goes into making its performances possible. At the end of the tour, breakfast was provided, and Marcus joined our small group of seven adults and two children. He was very comfortable engaging with everyone and made the meal feel relaxed and welcoming. His ability to connect with both adults and children was another highlight of the experience. The Backstage Tour was one of the highlights of our visit to Sydney, and Marcus was a huge part of what made it so memorable. If you’re lucky enough to have Marcus as your guide, you’re in for a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!!

We are thrilled that you enjoyed your Backstage Tour of the Sydney Opera House with Marcus and that it was a highlight of your Sydney visit, we'll pass on your feedback to him! We couldn't agree more, our guides are personable and passionate about sharing their knowledge of the history, architecture and some of the magic of our iconic landmark. We hope you made some special memories during your visit and look forward to welcoming you back next time, perhaps for a performance. Kind regards, Team SOH

Fantastic experience behind the scenes at Sydney Opera House.

This was an amazing once in a lifetime experience. You do literally go backstage and see how the place works from installing scenery to how the orchestras work. To stand on all 3 stages is something you don’t do everyday!! Well worth doing if you’re in Sydney and have even a small amount of interest in music and performing arts. Our host was Nicholas and he was brilliant- lots of facts and stories, a very engaging guide.

Response from the operator: Dear G8962PUmichaelb, Thank you for your kind email. Sydney Opera House Backstage Guided Tour with Breakfast: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sydney.

How much does Sydney Opera House Backstage Guided Tour with Breakfast cost?

    +

Prices start at $145 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sydney usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sydney Opera House Backstage Guided Tour with Breakfast take?

    +

Plan for about 2.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sydney is not rushed.

Is Sydney Opera House Backstage Guided Tour with Breakfast worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 360 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sydney, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sydney Opera House Backstage Guided Tour with Breakfast?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sydney Opera House Backstage Guided Tour with Breakfast suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sydney Opera House Backstage Guided Tour with Breakfast?

    +

Around 126 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sydney can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sydney and add a light layer if any part of the 2.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sydney Opera House Backstage Guided Tour with Breakfast start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sydney within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sydney?

    +

On Outty we rank every Sydney experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include WILD Wombat and Kangaroo Day Tour, All Inclusive, Depart Syd: Blue Mountains Best All Inclusive with Local Guide, Blue Mountain Small Group Tour All Inclusive. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sydney?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sydney?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
