Great Experience!
Experience was great! Once in a lifetime. Benito was very accommodating and was determined to have us swim with a whale. We not only saw one whale, but we also were able to swim with a whale calf and it's mom, that being said, be prepared to swim a lot in order to experience swimming with them as well as making sure you are following regulations.

Costly and no whales
Unfortunately, for my family and I, this was a waste of money (over $1,000 US dollars) and time. We saw a couple of very distant whale spouts and fins but never got close enough for the swimmers to see and swim with them. We spent the entire time searching for whales and driving to areas where there were none. I purposely booked this tour for its reviews. I was thinking this would be a very special day and time for our family on a small experienced whale swim/watching excursion. Other tours at that time, said they saw and swam with the whales. I believe our captain was very inexperienced and not confident enough to forge ahead toward the whales. On the flip side, the tour director was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic; we learned a lot about humpback whales. Sadly, the captain even hit a couple of boats trying to get back into the boat slip. I understood there was a chance we could not see any whales but this was ridiculous.
Response from the operator: Dear Shirley, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sincerely sorry that your whale-watching excursion did not meet your expectations, especially as this was meant to be a special moment for your family. We would like to emphasize that, as explained during our briefing, humpback whales are wild animals, and encounters can never be guaranteed. Every excursion is unique, and while some days offer incredible encounters, others can be more challenging, despite the best efforts of our crew. It is also important to understand that whale movements are unpredictable. Two boats operating in the same area at the same time can have completely different experiences. One may be fortunate enough to encounter whales up close, while another may only spot them from a distance. This is simply part of observing wildlife in its natural environment, where timing, location, and a little luck can make all the difference. Furthermore, whale watching in French Polynesia is governed by strict regulations designed to protect these magnificent animals. As explained during our briefing, approaching whales requires patience, respect, and careful judgment. Even when whales are visible, getting closer is not always possible or permitted. Their wellbeing and the safety of our guests will always take priority over forcing an encounter. Regarding your return to the marina, weather conditions were particularly windy that day, making docking maneuvers more challenging. We would nevertheless like to reassure you that no boats were damaged. We are pleased to hear that you appreciated your guide’s knowledge and enthusiasm. As reflected in the many positive reviews from our guests, we take great pride in providing professional, high-quality experiences, and we genuinely regret that yours did not meet your expectations. If you and your family are still in Tahiti, we would be delighted to invite you back for another whale-watching excursion, completely free of charge. We would love the opportunity to share with you the experience that Eleuthera Tahiti is known for. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back. Warm regards, The Eleuthera Tahiti Team

Excellence all around!...
Excellence all around! Would absolutely recommend. We saw a mom and baby and stayed with them for about an hour. Those are captain and our guide. We’re very knowledgeable and friendly and I’m so glad we did this. Book this!

Great afternoon with the whales !
We had a great afternoon searching for and eventually swimming with whales ! The crew was amazing ; very knowledgeable about the local conditions , very friendly and they did a great job of setting expectations. We searched in a couple of different spots , and after a few misses , finally caught up with a whale and its calf. Really appreciate the crews patience and persistence !

Magical experience
Incredible experience! Our guide Jeremy was knowledgeable and attentive. Did a 3 hour tour and jumped in the water twice. Be prepared to swim hard and fast about 200 yards, then wait in the open ocean for about 30 minutes for the whales. Spent about 1 hour total in the water. It’s absolutely worth it!!! Snacks and drinks were included. Bring a towel, and remember to bring your camera!!

Swim with Humpback Whales in Tahiti Seasonal: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Papeete.
How much does Swim with Humpback Whales in Tahiti Seasonal cost?
+
Prices start at $268 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Papeete usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Swim with Humpback Whales in Tahiti Seasonal take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Papeete is not rushed.
Is Swim with Humpback Whales in Tahiti Seasonal worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Papeete, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Swim with Humpback Whales in Tahiti Seasonal?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Swim with Humpback Whales in Tahiti Seasonal suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Swim with Humpback Whales in Tahiti Seasonal?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Papeete can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Papeete and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Swim with Humpback Whales in Tahiti Seasonal start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Papeete within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Papeete?
+
On Outty we rank every Papeete experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 5 Hours Tahiti Island Tour - West and East Coast - small group, Moorea 4WD Tour: Magic Mountain, Belvedere, Pineapple Road & More, Moorea 6-Hour Snorkeling and Lunch Shared Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Papeete?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Papeete?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Swim with Humpback Whales in Tahiti Seasonal?
+
Included: Use of snorkeling equipment; Snacks; and In-vehicle air conditioning. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
Does Swim with Humpback Whales in Tahiti Seasonal include hotel pickup?
+
Yes, pickup is offered, or you can meet at the start point instead from 14 listed pickup locations in and around Papeete. Be ready about 30 minutes before the start time. You can also enter a custom pickup address when booking.
What languages is Swim with Humpback Whales in Tahiti Seasonal offered in?
+
It is offered in English and French. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.
Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Swim with Humpback Whales in Tahiti Seasonal?
+
Confirmation is sent by the operator after booking, usually within 48 hours; if it is not confirmed you are not charged. Mobile tickets are accepted, so you can show the voucher on your phone.

+
