Felt like a tour by a family member
Worth every penny! Rony picked us up at the port after we disembarked from our cruise ship. Soooo easy. We had over 13 hours to wait for our flight home. We wanted to make the time count. We booked with Tahiti Top Tours for an 8 hour tour. Just the 2 of us. What was wonderful is that we were asked at the start if there was anywhere special we wanted to go. We had done our homework and wanted to go to the surfing spot on Tahiti Iti. Turns out, he already had that in mind. Rony felt like family from the get-go. He was extremely knowledgeable about Tahiti and its culture and sights, incredibly intelligent (speaks 5 languages fluently), and endearingly caring (I twisted my ankle on the cruise and my foot was incredibly swollen and he worried about it the whole day. We never felt rushed. We were so happy with our guide that we insisted on buying him lunch at a fantastic restaurant he suggested and ate what he suggested from the menu. OMG, it was fantastic! Seriously, one of the best excursions we have ever done. We would ask for him again for next time and do some museums. By the end, we could not have asked for anymore.

We were surprised when we found out our guide had only been a guide for a month! You would have never known as he was so very good. He knew the plants, the communities, the culture and so much more. His name was Tamatea.

Exceptional Private Island Tour with Tamatea – Highly Recommended!
Tamatea was an absolute gem of a guide. From the moment we started, it was clear he was genuinely invested in making our time in Tahiti memorable and meaningful. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the island and its culture, and took the time to share stories and traditions that gave the tour real depth. We covered Tahiti Nui and were also taken to a part of the smaller island that most tours simply won’t venture to – a remote and special area that felt like a true hidden gem. These were stops we never expected to be included, and they made the experience feel truly personal rather than off a checklist. Tamatea also went out of his way to stop at multiple scenic spots to take our photos and make sure we had lasting memories of the day. Nothing felt rushed, and every stop felt intentional. If you want to go beyond the typical tourist route and actually connect with the culture and landscape of Tahiti, this is the tour and this is your guide.
