Amazing instructors and exceptional service! 🤙🏄
Amazing experience with Special Surf 78! The instructors were incredibly kind, patient, and dedicated. They put a lot of effort into teaching, explained everything clearly, and gave everyone individual attention. I accidentally left my GoPro with them, and they are doing everything they can to arrange its return and send it back to me. I truly appreciate their exceptional kindness and willingness to help. Surfing with them was an absolute pleasure—highly recommended!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much!!! It was a pleasure!!!! hope to see you again soon :) Big hug

Best surf school, amazing teachers
Special Surf 78 is the best surf school in Peniche - the teachers are all very socially competent, they give individual feedback after class and during lessons, which helps a lot to improve technique, and it is great fun too. The groups are not too big and everything is perfectly organised despite a lot of demand in the summer. I had a perfect experience both as a beginner and in the outside, big recommendation. They also do classes for children or people with special needs, great experience.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for this nice review! Itwas a pleasure!!!!! :) Big hug

Fantastic Shop
Short version: GO HERE. We had almost 30 lessons here over two months. You will be taken care of, you will get a good price, and you will have a blast. Everyone from the owner to the instructors are awesome. They can organize pick ups if close to the area and have good accident insurance too. Long version: My wife and I have used Special Surf 78 extensively. We came to the school complete beginners to surfing. By the end we were taking our own green waves and having a blast. Over the course of 2 months and almost 30 lessons, we saw tons of different weather conditions and we were guided through them effectively by fantastic instructors. We were staying a bit outside of Peniche and did not have access to a vehicle. THEY PICKED US UP. I mean come on, that is fantastic service. The rides with Francisco were a ton of fun- I think he can carry a good conversation with literally anyone. Francisco was also in charge of our beginning lessons and did a fantastic job keeping us motivated and enjoying ourselves. He helped us build the foundation of a good surf position and was great at giving feedback throughout the lesson. His advice was consistently effective and helped up improve quickly. We were happy to get an additional lesson with Nuno as well. He was super supportive, but pushed us to go to a smaller board and get outside. We were nervous BUT IT WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE. It helped us stay fired up and challenged. He could see it was time to push and it made our time at Special Surf even better. Trust the instructors judgement! They know what they’re doing. As we started going outside the whitewash, we were mainly paired up with Pedro. Pedro was great out in the green waves. He consistently helped us get on the waves when we needed it. At the beginning, we required a good amount of pushing… but he was there to help every time. Agustina was the instructor we had the least, but we still got to see her around the shop and she was always super sweet to us. She took us outside one day, but the waves were a bit too scary! So we headed in and she was super friendly about it and supported our decision to put our comfort first. She was also really supportive when my wife was accidentally hit by a surf board and hurt. When my wife got hurt it was super easy to work with the shop to get her checked out by a doctor. The insurance from the store was easy to use and covered the full cost of our visit. No one made us feel bad, everyone pushed us to be safe and get it checked out. So a long story to get to a main point: 🏄♂️SUPPORT THIS SURF SHOP🏄
Response from the operator: Thank you very much forthis amazing review guys!!!!!! Hope to see you again soon :)

The Perfect Place to Learn to Surf
First of all, the place is fantastic and perfect for learning. I took some lessons during the very low season (mid-January) and had booked group sessions. For a few days, I was the only student, so I received one-on-one attention while still paying the lower group rate. Pedro and Cisco are excellent instructors—friendly and, above all, extremely patient. I highly recommend Special Surf 78, especially combined with the convenience and comfort of staying at the Hotel Star Inn.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for this review!! It was a pleasure! :) They send you a big hug. Hope to see you again soon!

Amazing surf lesson!
The lesson was perfect. Great teacher, learned a lot! We were able to start surfing all by ourselves in just 2 hours (note: we did it once before). With the tips we booked lots of progress, amazing experience!

Why this scores 76
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Surf Courses In Peniche and Baleal Portugal: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Surf Courses In Peniche and Baleal Portugal cost?
+
Prices start at $47 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Surf Courses In Peniche and Baleal Portugal take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Surf Courses In Peniche and Baleal Portugal worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 98 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Surf Courses In Peniche and Baleal Portugal?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Surf Courses In Peniche and Baleal Portugal suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Surf Courses In Peniche and Baleal Portugal?
+
Around 34 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Surf Courses In Peniche and Baleal Portugal start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
