    Tour was ok. The...

Tour was ok. The advertising on planktons are wrong, so if you are booking a tour to see planktons glow at night, you will be very disappointed. They are so tiny and so little in quantity that you wonder if the tiny glitter is a hallucination. The part that really annoyed us though was the pick up and drop off experience. The person who picked us up drove like he was racing with the traffic. So fast and it was very dangerous because we were seated on the back of a van with no seatbelts and an open back. So, in any case of a traffic accident, we'd be flying out of the back of the vehicle, no door to stop us. We told him to slow down, then explained to the tour organiser that this was not ok (dangerous). He dismissed it and said, it's fine. After the tour, we had to wait for 40 minutes to get dropped back off at our accomodation. Then, the driver drove past our accomodation, so we did a 25 minute tour until he found our accomodation. It was apparently because we didn't stay in a big hotel.

    Beautiful experience on our honeymoon

Beautiful tour to amazing scenic locations, the tour guides went above and beyond to make our honeymoon special and even gave us a little chocolate cake to celebrate after our dinner on the beach 🩷 thank you so much! Would recommend to others.

    Must do tour

Great afternoon! Highly recommend this bc after about an hour at Hong Island, the early tours left abs we had all the places to ourselves. Sunset was rained out but otherwise a perfect afternoon and evening. Crew was great.

False advertising at its best! No glow in the dark planktons

We originally booked a long boat, for a smaller group setting. Ended up on a speedboat with 25+ other people as they had nothing else available. Dinner was a precooked meal that was set up by the crew on a smaller island.. underwhelming, not very hygienic I felt since we had left on the boat at 12 and were served food at 5pm. For the Planktons we were taken near the area, stayed on the boat while the crew threw buckets of water on the boat floor to show us the planktons which were about 0.5 seconds of small light and then faded. For the sunset they took us to an island where we had to wade through hard rocky water, then walk on the extremely rocky, dangerous path to get to the actual beach. This was unsafe many people tripped. On the return, boat stopped at the edge of the beach. Which had ditches and since it was 8pm it was dark, not able to see where you’re going in the water and people fell. Overall very disappointing experience. Do not recommend to anyone I’m sure there are better ones out there.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate the opportunity to respond. While we regret the change from longtail to speedboat, this was a necessary adjustment due to operational constraints on the day. We understand this impacted your sense of intimacy, and we’re working to improve how such changes are communicated and managed. Regarding the dinner setup, our crew prepares meals with care and follows food safety protocols, though we acknowledge that the timing and presentation may not have felt ideal. We’re reviewing this aspect to ensure it better reflects the quality we strive for. The plankton experience is one of nature’s more subtle wonders, and visibility can vary depending on moonlight, tide, and weather. While we aim to offer immersive viewing, safety regulations sometimes require guests to remain on board. We’re exploring alternative ways to enhance this part of the tour. As for the sunset stop, we chose that location for its panoramic views, but we take your safety concerns seriously. We’re now reassessing the terrain and lighting conditions to ensure safer access and clearer guidance for all guests. We’re truly sorry that the experience didn’t resonate with you. Our team is passionate about creating memorable journeys, and while this one fell short for you, we hope you’ll find future adventures that better suit your expectations. Warm regards,

    Incredible!

I am very very pleased and happy with this whole experience. We had multiple options of activities we could choose from when we stopped for a few hours at each island. The staff were very friendly :) The only thing I would let the travel company know and the individual booking is to make sure there are not any additional fees included. (Please make park fee clear to the customer before the event) I was not made aware about the national park fee which made the begging a little more complicated. However, I managed to grab the cash quickly from my hotel but note: (double check all fees are included in price and if not reach out to agency to double check any additional fees not clearly stated on main page) Otherwise, I would HIGHLY recommend.

Sunset Tour of the Hong Islands with Bioluminescent Plankton: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Krabi.

How much does Sunset Tour of the Hong Islands with Bioluminescent Plankton cost?

    +

Prices start at $53 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Krabi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sunset Tour of the Hong Islands with Bioluminescent Plankton take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Krabi is not rushed.

Is Sunset Tour of the Hong Islands with Bioluminescent Plankton worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Krabi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sunset Tour of the Hong Islands with Bioluminescent Plankton?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sunset Tour of the Hong Islands with Bioluminescent Plankton suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sunset Tour of the Hong Islands with Bioluminescent Plankton?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Krabi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Krabi and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sunset Tour of the Hong Islands with Bioluminescent Plankton start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Krabi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Krabi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Krabi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full-Day Phi Phi Islands Tour with Lunch from Krabi, Phi Phi Early Bird & 4 Islands - Day Tour by Speedboat From Krabi, Railay and 4-Island Sunset Speedboat Cruise with Night Snorkel. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Krabi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Krabi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
