Perfect addition to our trip to Siem Reap!

We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with our guide, Roeurn Dan, as we saw and learned about another aspect of Cambodia. We were picked up promptly as scheduled from our hotel and driven out to this rural area where we boarded our wooden boat for our private tour (large boat with just us, Dan, and the boat driver). It was quite an interesting boat ride watching our skilled boat driver steer the vessel with a pulley system of ropes that controlled the rudder. We were visiting during the dry season and marveled at how high the houses were built up on stilts to avoid flooding during the rainy season. We made a stop during our boat ride to walk around the rural fishing village and enjoyed seeing the children at play and the way of life here. We then continued down the water to Tonle Sap Lake where we enjoyed relaxing and watching a beautiful sunset. Afterwards we were returned back to our hotel. This was an excellent tour which we definitely recommend to see more than just the historic temples while in Cambodia/Siem Reap. Thank you again Van Express Tours and Dan!

Response from the operator: Thanks you so much for your kind words. We are very pleased to hear that you had a great time. Best Regards Vanra

Very nice half day experience

Very professional guide. Adapts to all requests. Drive very carefully. Visiting a floating village on the Tonle Sap and watching the sunset over the lake are very rich experiences and are a very good complement to visiting the Angkor temples.

Response from the operator: Hello Thanks you so much for your feedback! Best Regards Vanra

Just visit Angkor Wat for one tome is ok. Nothing else.

It too expensive for go 1 round with boat there, nothing else. 23 USD for entrance per person even if you are in 1 or 2 or 3 person on 1 boat, 23 USD per person. Then if you want to go through mangroves, you need to pay 5 USD more per person. In Thailand and Vietnam can offer you to see floating houses too but the service much better (included transfer and lunch). The only thing nice is the trip with tuktuk to the country side, people smiling, kids with bicycles ect... Siemreap is Not really expensive if you compare with Europe or America but it is expensive for what they offer to us. Not much service and everything they calculate in USD. Perhaps the price is for foreigners. However, Siemreap is nice for 1 time to see Angkor Wat, that is all. 37$ for a ticket plus guide for Angkor Wat, I found it too expensive.

Response from the operator: Hello Dear i am very sorry to hear that you had a bad time during your visit with us. I would like to tell you all prices are fixed. so before you book somewhere you better check for us we just doing our job. To be honest for your tour we make nothing from. as you see private ride, guide, for $21 the tickets are not my responsibility. at the end i wish all the best.

Tonle Sap tour

100% recommendable, is super informed and patient. He makes you feel at home and is always taking care of you. I forgot my cell phone when going down to the airport and He did not hesitate to return to the airport to give it back. My favorite day in Cambodia was when he was my Guide. There is no doubt that the best thing about Cambodia is its people. Thanks a lot

Response from the operator: Thanks you for your feedback and i am very pleased to hear that you have a wonderful time during your stayed.

Sunset on Tonle Sap Lake: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Siem Reap.

How much does Sunset on Tonle Sap Lake cost?

+

Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Siem Reap usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sunset on Tonle Sap Lake take?

+

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Siem Reap is not rushed.

Is Sunset on Tonle Sap Lake worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Siem Reap, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sunset on Tonle Sap Lake?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sunset on Tonle Sap Lake suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 13. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Sunset on Tonle Sap Lake?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Siem Reap can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Siem Reap and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sunset on Tonle Sap Lake start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Siem Reap within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Siem Reap?

+

On Outty we rank every Siem Reap experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Small-Group and Guide tours, Angkor Wat full Day 'Small Group with sunset & Tour Guide, Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Tour with Guide from Siem Reap. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Siem Reap?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Siem Reap?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
