About this experience
While there are so many ways to explore the backwaters of Alleppey, kayaking with us is an unbeatable experience. You will be paddling through a handpicked route, around an island village, to watch the sunset, in the bast backwaters. We will be paddling near the bird islands and having a tea-snack break from a local home by the village. You'll not only paddle through the narrow canals, but also through the breathtaking vast backwaters. Towards the end of the sunset kayaking tour, you'll be the only ones in the backwaters. There won't be no other boats and zero tourists. It really is one heck of a feeling when the waters is just for you. The tours are guided by expert trainers that are friendly and will make your trip memorable.

Terrible communication
We ended up not going on this trip due to extremely poor communication. I reached out via WhatsApp and asked a couple of essential questions about the meeting point and what to bring. I received a "brochure" for the experience but no real information and no answers to my questions. We were also concerned about the timing of the trip 4pm to 7pm - as it is fully dark by 6.30pm. Very disappointed - and feel that we should get a refund.
Response from the operator: Hi I checked our WhatsApp for your name and found a chat. But you've sent one single message and that too, without the "trip voucher". I'm attaching the screenshot of the chat in the link below. https://pasteboard.co/pepSFrgyCB7D.jpg You have not made any bookings with us. It seems like you're confused. Also, you didn't even respond to that WhatsApp message stating your case. Please remove this if you've got confused us with some other company. Thanks.

Breathtaking, magical, beautiful!
This 3 hour sunset kayaking trip was one of the best things I have done during my travels in India over the last few weeks. The guide, Tom, was wonderful and has an obvious love for kayaking. He was the most wonderful and easy going person to take a trip with - I never felt rushed, and I learned a lot about local life and wildlife and as we toured. The experience of kayaking as the sun set, and then travelling back through the narrow backwater canals led by the lights of surrounding houses and boats, is something I will never forget. The experience was breathtaking and magical. This is such amazing value for money and so much more personal than a regular boat. The kayaks go where the boats cannot easily take you and there is something really rewarding about sitting on the water and paddling along at a slower pace using your own power. If you have not taken a kayak trip before, it’s not hard to do and you will have a chance to practice at the start. The kayak is very stable, and the water is very calm (plus you will be wearing a lifejacket which gives added confidence). You don’t need to be super fit or strong, as the pace is very gentle and slow. You will feel an incredible sense of achievement at the end and I guarantee you will want to do it all over again! I can’t recommend this trip or Nadodi kayaking enough. Thank you Tom, for being such an incredible guide and for the knowledge you shared with me. Remember the saying we talked about: a man who finds a job that he loves will never work another day in his life ;-) You are where you are meant to be.

Great experience. Very calming
If you want to experience the true beauty of the backwaters, do this trip. Put guide Tom was patient, polite and very professional. We hit some waves, gentle ones, but he handled the kayak beautifully. Highly recommend it..

Great Kayaking memories
A very authentic safe adventure. Quite simple, no phones, just paddling in our kayaks with a truly lovely local host. Not a big production so no photos taken except on land. Good memories.

Why this scores 44
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Sunset Kayaking in Hidden Alleppey Backwater Routes: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kochi.
How much does Sunset Kayaking in Hidden Alleppey Backwater Routes cost?
+
Prices start at $1200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kochi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Sunset Kayaking in Hidden Alleppey Backwater Routes take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kochi is not rushed.
Is Sunset Kayaking in Hidden Alleppey Backwater Routes worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 44 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Kochi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sunset Kayaking in Hidden Alleppey Backwater Routes?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Sunset Kayaking in Hidden Alleppey Backwater Routes suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Sunset Kayaking in Hidden Alleppey Backwater Routes?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kochi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kochi and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Sunset Kayaking in Hidden Alleppey Backwater Routes start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kochi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kochi?
+
On Outty we rank every Kochi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Local Kochi Sightseeing Tuk-Tuk Tour, Kochi Sightseeing Tuk-Tuk Tour, Kochi Sightseeing Tuk-Tuk Tour with Pickup From Cruise Ships. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kochi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kochi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
