    Waste of time and money

Arrived at St Stephen’s Basilica today with the PDF document for my skip the line tickets on the correct day to collect my ticket. The ticket office were very helpful but could not validate my ticket as they had no record of my purchase. I rang the telephone number given by the supplier on the PDF document twice. I received an automated response in another language than English on both occasions and was cut off. The tickets are listed as non-refundable. Do not book this experience.

Response from the operator: ear 415philb, As explicitly stated across multiple sections of our product description and clearly written on the voucher itself, the voucher is not an entry ticket and does not grant direct access to the venue. We send the actual entrance tickets via email prior to the visit, and customers are required to present those official tickets as instructed.

    Nice Church

A beautifull Church. Glad i've seen it. Communication with Viator isn't good. They don't answer the mail or WhatsApp. Ans we didn't know , or read, you could also visut the terras. This time we could have bought the tickets richt there.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, We appreciate your confirmation that St. Stephen’s Basilica is indeed a beautiful monument. Regarding your comments: all details concerning what your ticket includes—such as access to the terrace—are explicitly clearly outlined on the product description page. It is up to travelers to actually read the inclusions before purchasing, rather than assuming what is provided.

St Stephen’s Basilica - a jewel in the heart of Budapest

The St Stephen Basilica - also called Szent Istvan in Hungarian, is one of the main landmarks of Hungary. It is stunningly beautiful, majestic and houses the remains of Saint Stephen himself - the founder of the Hungarian state and the person who converted them to Catholicism. The basilica is decorated with gold, magnificent frescoes and paintings of Biblical scenes and of various saints and the Evangelists. There is also a panoramic terrace offering stunning views of Budapest, which has a separate ticket required for it.

    Beautiful cathedral

We purchased tickets online - not able to go straight in with this. Need to access the ticket office which is outside to the right of the cathedral. We did not have a tour guide which we would have preferred for this tour around the cathedral.

St. Stephen's Basilica Skip The Line Entry Ticket: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Budapest.

How much does St. Stephen's Basilica Skip The Line Entry Ticket cost?

    +

Prices start at $18 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Budapest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does St. Stephen's Basilica Skip The Line Entry Ticket take?

    +

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Budapest is not rushed.

Is St. Stephen's Basilica Skip The Line Entry Ticket worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 45 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Budapest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule St. Stephen's Basilica Skip The Line Entry Ticket?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is St. Stephen's Basilica Skip The Line Entry Ticket suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book St. Stephen's Basilica Skip The Line Entry Ticket?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Budapest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Budapest and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does St. Stephen's Basilica Skip The Line Entry Ticket start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Budapest within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Budapest?

    +

On Outty we rank every Budapest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Budapest City Landmarks Walking Tour in 2 Hours, Countryside Half-day Gastro-Wine Tour from Budapest Meal & pickup, Budapest free walking tour: Parliament and Shoes Memorial. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Budapest?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Budapest?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
