Super cooking class with great hostess

We spontaneously had a great evening! Tharu is a very dear and personable woman who has guided us very well and we have prepared a wonderful Curry & Rice with her help.

    Great cooking class!

It was a really nice and cozy experience. We were cooking in the outside kitchen, next to Tharu’s home. Tharu and her family were super welcoming! We cooked 10 dishes with fresh ingredients, a lot of vegetables came from her own garden. After the cooking we got to eat it the dishes, and it tasted delicious. She gave us the ingredient list for the curry’s at the end of the class, so we can try and make them at home. Definitely would recommend this cooking class!!

    Delicious meal with wonderful class!

This was a trip highlight! Tharu and her family were super accommodating and welcoming. We had a vegan with us, which was no issue (only one of the meals had animal products), and I think would also be easy if you were gluten free :) They were able to collect us from our hotel which made things really easy. We were a group of four adults, but I think you could definitely do with kids - provided they are okay with chopping veggies. The food was lovely and we left with great new skillls (and great recipes) for cooking at home!

Was a lot of fun. We were picked up at our guesthouse. Got a tour of the garden. And we cooked delicious (if we say so ourselves)!

    Local cookery

With local ingredients, it made the fresh food even better. The food was incredible and we got to eat it after our hard work. We had local herbal tea at the beginning before we started the cooking. Could have been easy to have a copy of all curries cooked as we had to type all the ingredients on a phone

Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sigiriya.

How much does Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch cost?

    +

Prices start at $35 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sigiriya usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sigiriya is not rushed.

Is Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sigiriya, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sigiriya can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sigiriya and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sigiriya within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sigiriya?

    +

On Outty we rank every Sigiriya experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sajee’s Place Cooking Class sigiriya, Private Jeep Safari at Minneriya National Park to Visit Elephants, 7 Days Tour in Sri Lanka with 4 Star HB Accommodations. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sigiriya?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sigiriya?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch?

    +

Included: Bottled water; Lunch; English Speaking Guide; and Tea and coffee. Not included: In-vehicle air conditioning. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

Does Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch include hotel pickup?

    +

Yes, pickup is offered for every traveler from 24 listed pickup locations in and around Sigiriya. Be ready about 30 minutes before the start time. You can also enter a custom pickup address when booking.

What languages is Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch offered in?

    +

It runs in English. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.

Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch?

    +

Is Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch wheelchair or stroller accessible?

    +

The operator notes: Wheelchair accessible. If accessibility is critical, contact the operator after booking to confirm arrangements for your date.

What happens to Sri Lankan Privet Cooking Class with Lunch if the weather is bad?

    +

It generally runs rain or shine, so dress for the forecast in Sigiriya. Standard cancellation terms apply: free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start.
