    About this experience

Discover the magic of Split after dark on this 1-hour evening walking tour of the Old Town and Diocletian's Palace. Join us on a walking tour led by a guide who grew up inside the walls of Diocletian’s Palace. While most kids grow up in apartment buildings, your guide’s childhood backyard was a 1,700-year-old Roman palace. Born and raised within the walls of Diocletian’s Palace, your guide knows these streets better than any map. For them, the palace isn’t just a UNESCO site — it’s home, full of personal stories, family memories, and a few secrets the stones still haven’t told. Learn about the Roman emperor Diocletian, the palace’s architecture, and the stories hidden in ancient squares and alleys. Experience Split’s unique blend of ancient and modern life as the city glows under evening lights. Perfect for a quick introduction or for those who want to enjoy the charm of Split in a short, engaging tour. Your guide will meet you at the Grgur Ninski statue with a black umbrella.

Fantastic Tour with a really SUPER Guide! (Judith, you rock!)

Wow! We met up at Merlin's shiny toe (Gregory of Nin) and Judith (please tell I am spelling this correctly!) met us and gave us a fantastic tour of old town! We took the evening tour and this was nice as it had been super hot during the day and in the evening it was a bit cooler. Judith told us all about the history in a fun and easy way. She is a natural as a guide. Very personable and made us feel so very welcomed! Thank You Judith!

An evening tour and a must by the best tour guide

If Judita is your guide, you will have the best time! She was informative, passionate and determined to offer both a professional and fun experience. She went out of her way to give information and advice about Split overall in addition to her informative guide. I learned so much about Croatia, Split and Diocletian's Palace. The evening tour is a must as it avoids the intensity of the midday and afternoon sun, offering a cool breeze and a picturesque sunset to accompany.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted that Judita made your evening both fun and informative. There's nothing better than hearing that history didn't feel like... well, history class. 😊 The evening tour really does have its own charm, with cooler temperatures, golden light, and the Palace looking its absolute best. We're so glad you chose to experience Split with us, and we hope to welcome you back before Diocletian decides to renovate the Palace again! - Silvio, owner of Time Travel Split

De primera mano, por al quien vive en el palacio diocletiano

Judita is the best guide in the world! With her warmth, her smiles, and her amazing stories, we had one of the best tours of our trip. She had all the patience in the world to answer every question, even if it meant going over time. She truly is part of Diocletian’s Palace, and if you choose her, you’ll understand why. Unmissable and unbeatable!!!

Split Evening Walking Tour: Discover Diocletian’s Palace: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Split.

How much does Split Evening Walking Tour: Discover Diocletian’s Palace cost?

    +

Prices start at $14 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Split usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Split Evening Walking Tour: Discover Diocletian’s Palace take?

    +

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Split is not rushed.

Is Split Evening Walking Tour: Discover Diocletian’s Palace worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Split, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Split Evening Walking Tour: Discover Diocletian’s Palace?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Split Evening Walking Tour: Discover Diocletian’s Palace suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Split Evening Walking Tour: Discover Diocletian’s Palace?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Split can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Split and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Split Evening Walking Tour: Discover Diocletian’s Palace start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Split within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Split?

    +

On Outty we rank every Split experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Split Small-Group Walking Tour with a Magister of History, Split Walking Tour with Professor of History, From Split: Krka Waterfalls, Food & Wine Tasting Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Split?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Split?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
