A Long but Worthwhile Day
This is a long day trip, but worth it if you want to tick these locations off your list. Butrint is an interesting place with Roman.Greek, and Byzantine ruins to explore. Gjirokaster is also a nice city, but the portion you walk through is entirely populated with identical souvenir shops. I think they could easily drop Saranda from this trip as it holds no value other than being a beach resort. I'd rather have had more time at the other places. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and flexible.

Good overview of Southern Albania in a day.
Endri, our driver/guide kindly met us at our hotel and was good company for our long day excursion to Southern Albania. Endri was an excellent driver who looked after us very well. We were fortunate to have just our own party of 3 in the vehicle and joined another party of 3 in their vehicle, with guide Julio, for visits to Gjirokaster Castle and Butrint National Park. We were disappointed that the itinerary did not, as advertised, include a visit to Vlora. Apparently time does no permit. This should be addressed by the operator if it is not feasible to complete the full itinerary in the 14 hours schedule. Overall, the tour gives a good overview of Southern Albania and it’s attractive scenery.

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tirana?

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
