2. Amma Tookay Hindu Temple

   Discover the hidden beauty of Amma Tookay Temple, a colourful and peaceful place of worship nestled in the village of Camp Diable, surrounded by the sugar cane fields of southern Mauritius. According to local legend, during the 19th century, workers clearing the land for sugar cane plantations encountered a large rock that could not be moved or broken despite numerous attempts. Believed by locals to be sacred, the rock became a place of devotion, with some believing it represented Amma Tookay. The temple was later built around this revered stone, creating a unique spiritual site that reflects the deep traditions, beliefs and cultural diversity of Mauritius.

3. Visit Senneville Bridge, one of the highest railway bridges in Mauritius, once used to transport sugar cane harvested from the plantations of the Savanne region. 5. Gris Gris Beach

   Discover La Roche Qui Pleure, meaning “the Weeping Rock”, one of the most fascinating natural sights along the wild southern coastline of Mauritius. Located near Gris Gris Beach, this unique phenomenon is created by the powerful waves of the Indian Ocean crashing against the cliffs. With no coral reef to protect this part of the island, the ocean reaches the rocky coast with incredible force. As the waves hit the rocks, water flows down the cliff face, creating the appearance of tears that inspired its poetic name. Follow the scenic pathway through lush greenery and witness this remarkable meeting point between land and sea, where nature creates a truly unforgettable spectacle.

6. xplore the unique beauty of Rivière des Galets, one of the most distinctive coastal landscapes in South Mauritius. Unlike the island’s typical sandy beaches, this shoreline is covered with smooth pebbles shaped over time by the constant movement of the waves. While the waters are not ideal for swimming, the beach offers a peaceful and scenic atmosphere where visitors can admire the powerful ocean waves meeting the rugged coastline. Just a few metres offshore lies Îlot Sancho, a small islet accessible on foot during low tide. Walk across the shallow waters and enjoy a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the endless Indian Ocean and the dramatic waves of the southern coast.
