Fantastic first time rafting experience!
We did an awesome rafting trip for my sister in-law’s bachelorette “party”! That said, we are a bunch of middle aged women who are adventurous but most of us had never rafted before. We decided to choose full-day South Fork class II-III rapids which worked out perfectly for the athletic people as well as the beginners in our group. Our guide was Marcus and he was the BEST guide! He was super patient with us and gave us lots of encouragement and praise. Marcus also was training a new guide Joe who practiced guiding on some of the rapids and he also did a commendable job. We saw a lot of other companies on the river and All-Outdoors was definitely the most well organized and professional. Highly recommend! Now we want to come back and do Class IV!
Response from the operator: Thank you for the great review! We’re so glad the South Fork American was the perfect fit for your group and that Marcus and Joe helped make the day such a success. We’ll be ready for you when it’s time to step up to Class IV rafting!

A good time!
We had an amazing time on our first whitewater rafting experience and glad we chose All-Outdoors! Guide Joe was great. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and confident. We were joined by two new guides, Kian and Aviv (I hope I got her name right). They were a fun addition to our boat and were great bonus guides! We did the South Fork upper section Chili Bar of the American River. The whole experience was so much fun and planning when we can go again!
Response from the operator: Thanks for the great review! We’re so glad you chose All-Outdoors for your first rafting trip and had such a fun time on the South Fork American. We hope to see you back on the river for another adventure soon!

Joey was our guide, and he was absolutely amazing! He is incredibly knowledgeable, well-mannered, and always put our safety first. All-Outdoors is a well-run company, and I hope anyone who chooses to white water raft in Lotus, CA is lucky enough to have Joey as their guide.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing this! We’re so glad you had a great day on the river with Joey - he’ll really appreciate your kind words. It means a lot to know you felt well cared for and enjoyed your rafting experience with us on the South Fork American.

Wonderful experience and great team!
All Outdoors is a great company and organized for us a customized activity to meet our needs in terms of time and itinerary. In the preparation stage the answered a lot of emails and share a lot of information and video. The activity was perfectly organized from start to finish and guides are very well prepared. The experience was awesome and unforgettable. Special thank you to the entire team.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re so glad we could tailor the trip to fit your schedule and plans, and it’s great to hear all the preparation paid off. Our guides will be happy to know their efforts helped make it such a memorable adventure. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to see you all again on the river!

Awesome trip with the best guides and top-tier facilities
I rafted with All Outdoors on the South Fork of the American River with my mom, who is 64. She had a lot of questions leading up to the trip, and the folks in the office answered them whenever she called. Our guide, Rose, did a great job of teaching us how to paddle and keeping us safe on the water. The trip started right on time, and was run very efficiently. We introduced ourselves but didn’t waste time on icebreaking games or boat setup, which I’ve seen with other rafting companies. For lunch, we pulled into a spot designated for All Outdoors, with shaded picnic tables and bathrooms. The guides prepared a sandwich bar and handled the cleanup afterwards. In the second half of the trip, we had some exciting Class III rapids. These were challenging enough to provide a thrill without feeling dangerous. We ended the trip in Lake Folsom, where a powerboat picked us up and towed us two miles to the finish. AO provided a bus back to the starting location, which has showers and changing rooms. I’ve been on a few other rafting trips, and this is the best one that I’ve done. Big thanks to the All Outdoors team for a safe, exciting trip!
Response from the operator: We really appreciate you taking the time to share such a detailed review. Rose will be so happy to hear your feedback, and it’s great to know your mom felt supported every step of the way. Glad the day left such a strong impression. We hope to see you back on the river soon!

Why this scores 50
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
South Fork American River Whitewater Rafting Trip (Class 3+): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sacramento.
How much does South Fork American River Whitewater Rafting Trip (Class 3+) cost?
+
Prices start at $131 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sacramento usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does South Fork American River Whitewater Rafting Trip (Class 3+) take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sacramento is not rushed.
Is South Fork American River Whitewater Rafting Trip (Class 3+) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in Sacramento, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule South Fork American River Whitewater Rafting Trip (Class 3+)?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is South Fork American River Whitewater Rafting Trip (Class 3+) suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book South Fork American River Whitewater Rafting Trip (Class 3+)?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sacramento can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sacramento and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does South Fork American River Whitewater Rafting Trip (Class 3+) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sacramento within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sacramento?
+
Sacramento pairs Old Sacramento and Capitol history walks with river kayaking, farm-to-fork food tours and day trips into the Sierra foothills and Napa. On Outty we rank every Sacramento experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 60 Minute Adventures - The Escape Game at The Galleria, Midtown Sacramento Arts and Food Tour, Full-Day Whitewater Rafting Trip on Middle Fork from Auburn (Class 3-4). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sacramento?
+
March to May and September to November, before triple-digit summer heat. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sacramento?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
