    What you'll see and do

    1. South Coast Day Tour Pick up at your hotel or airbnb around 8.30 AM. Seljalandsfoss Waterfall: Seljalandsfoss is a 60 m high waterfall, beautifully located and exceptional because you can enjoy it from behind. A path takes you around the waterfall and standing behind it is a rare and unique experience. However, on very cold days the path can be closed because of ice, but then you have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful icy landscape.

      60 minutes here

    2. Skogafoss

Skógafoss Waterfall: Skógafoss is one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland. It is also 60 m high and about 25 m wide. Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss are both in glacier rivers, the meltwater from Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. Eyjafjallajökull is  famous for it´s massive 2010 volcanic eruption that disrupted air traffic in Europe.

      60 minutes here

    3. Solheimajokull Glacier

Sólheimajökull Glacier: Sólheimajökull is an outlet glacier, flowing out of the ice cap Mýrdalsjökull. Underneath Mýrdalsjökull is the famous volcano Katla. Glaciers are retreating and disappearing around us on an unprecedented rate. It is predicted that in a few decades the glaciers in Iceland will all be gone.

      120 minutes here

    4. At Dyrhólaey there is an amazing view of the south coast landscape and black beaches. Dyrhólaey is a 120-metre high promontory that the sea has eroded from the headland. In summer Dyrhólaey is rich in bird life, the most common, the puffin.

      45 minutes here

    5. Reynisfjara Beach

Reynisdrangar and Reynisfjara Black Beach: Iceland is a volcanic island, made up mainly of basaltic material that is black in colour. Hence, the “Black Beaches”. The black beach was, in 1991, ranked as one of the ten most beautiful non-tropical beaches in the world. On the beach, there are remarkable basalt columns. Reynisdrangar is a sea stack, a geological formation made by wave erosion of surrounding material.

      120 minutes here

    6. Volcano Eyjafjallajokull

Hopefully the weather allows a view of Eyjafjallajökull volcano, which is famous for it´s eruption in 2010.

      45 minutes here

    7. Vik

Vík: The village of Vík is a small village south of Mýrdalsjökull glacier. A visit to Vík is the perfect end of our amazing tour in the south. Arrive in Reykjavík around 6PM

Best tour of our two week holiday in Iceland!

The South Coast tour was my top priority, and touring with Travelling Iceland was essential. I'd toured with Helga and company before and had an excellent experience. This tour exceeded all of my expectations, not just because of the waterfalls, glacier, and beach, but mainly because of our local tour guide Hallthor—such engaging stories and descriptions, his knowledge of everything Iceland, so personable and fun, and accommodating of our pace and desires. After querying the other three in our family, I learned that it was the best day for each of us during our two-week holiday in Iceland. We enjoyed Hallthor's tour so much that we arranged for a City Tour a week later, again with Hallthor. I feel so lucky to have found Travelling Iceland—specifically, the care they take in forming top-notch private tours hosted by local geologists and other experts on the land that is Iceland.

South Coast of Iceland Day Tour - PRIVATE TOUR: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does South Coast of Iceland Day Tour - PRIVATE TOUR cost?

    +

Prices start at $1167 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does South Coast of Iceland Day Tour - PRIVATE TOUR take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is South Coast of Iceland Day Tour - PRIVATE TOUR worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule South Coast of Iceland Day Tour - PRIVATE TOUR?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is South Coast of Iceland Day Tour - PRIVATE TOUR suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book South Coast of Iceland Day Tour - PRIVATE TOUR?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does South Coast of Iceland Day Tour - PRIVATE TOUR start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
