About this experience
A wonderful way to explore the Arctic landscape of Northern Norway! Snowshoeing is a great means to immerse yourself in our wild nature and to traverse even the snowiest areas. The scenic drive along the fjord makes a perfect beginning of the tour. At the destination our guide leads you to one of the summits on Kvaløya island or on the mainland. Relish the feeling of crunching over, rather than sinking into, the pristine snow. Great views over majestic mountains and fjords are the reward for the effort - we hike around 400 meters elevation to reach the top. Therefore the trip requires you to be used to physical activity, but previous snowshoeing experience is not required. Wearing proper winter boots and warm clothes is a must on this tour. We take good time for breaks to take photos, learn about the local nature and culture, and savor a hot drink and snack on route.

So much fun
Every aspect of the tour was amazing. Heli, pur guide, was brilliant. The hike was easy to follow but yet it took us to breathtaking views. Highly recommend.

Snowshoe Adventure
For someone who is terrified walking over an icy pavement this was a challenge and not something I was ecstatic about doing….But, it was absolutely brilliant, and so much fun… once I got the hang of the snowshoes and the poles. The scenery, the adventure, Marta our lovely guide and our fellow snowshoers, they all contributed to a fabulous morning. A coffee and a piece of carrot cake was our treat at the end. Because of the increase in temperature I didn’t really require my fur lined boots, heavy waterproof trousers and thermal gloves. As a senior snowshoer, I can highly recommend this activity!

An incredible experience!
We (couple) did an amazing hike together with the tour guide Marta! We had a great time, the hike was intense but not too hard. The way up was about 1,5 hours. At the top we had a little snack and a warm drink. Marta was super professional and friendly and provided a lot of explanations on the nature and the surroundings. The view at the top was amazing and we took some great photos. Also, we were able to rent the snowboots, trousers, jackets and gloves at Tromsø Outdoor for a fair price. We highy recommend the experience!

Top hike
We wanted to experience the artic weather and nature, and this tour gave us exactly that! It was cold at times and quite windy and it was all part of it! The views are amazing and are worth the cold hands and the sweat to get there!! The best part was the feeling of safety that Marta gave everyone and, of course, the treats and hot drink at the top. 🔝

Snowshoe Hill Hike in Tromsø: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tromso.
How much does Snowshoe Hill Hike in Tromsø cost?
+
Prices start at $1490 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tromso usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Snowshoe Hill Hike in Tromsø take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tromso is not rushed.
Is Snowshoe Hill Hike in Tromsø worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 81 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tromso, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Snowshoe Hill Hike in Tromsø?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Snowshoe Hill Hike in Tromsø suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Snowshoe Hill Hike in Tromsø?
+
Around 28 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tromso can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tromso and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Snowshoe Hill Hike in Tromsø start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tromso within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tromso?
+
On Outty we rank every Tromso experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights Minibus Chase from Tromsø with Chasing Lights, Northern Lights Big Bus Chase with Chasing Lights, Tromsø Northern Lights Chase We Go Where The Lights Appear. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tromso?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tromso?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
