A good introduction to a beauyisland
Eduardo was a very good guide on this circle tour of Tahiti. He gave us enough information to get a good perspective on the island without smothering us on details and we managed to see a lot in five hours.

Island tour
We drove around the entire island. Having a guide/driver meant we could look at scenery without having to worry about traffic. Rony was our guide and he was very informative about the history and culture of the island. I was worried that the time at each stop might not be enough but mostly, it was just right.

Don’t waste your time or money!
Don’t waste your time or money! This was the worst tour we’ve ever taken. Maybe it would be better with a different tour guide. She arrived at exactly 1:30 and someone made a comment, she responded that the tour starts at 1:30, so she is on time. We should have known at that point. We were supposed to have “full time narration”, on the 4.5 hour tour, we were lucky to have part time narration. If you asked a question, she answered with the bare minimum, mostly a yes or no. She did speak with the two people sitting in the front with her, but not much else. Mostly it was completely silent. . She said things like- I can’t speak a lot because I have to concentrate on driving, the roads are very dangerous. She didn’t tell us about our stops, we had to ask her where we were going next, she gave little to no info even when we got there. We even asked when we should be back, and she said “in a while”. Then said she needed to rest because when she woke up in the morning she felt “woo hoo, from the rains 2 days ago”. The tour info says we would each get a bottle of water. We saw her give out 2 bottles, there were 8 people on the van. When we asked her for a bottle , she said she didn’t have anymore. At the second to the last stop, she bought one bottle. I guess the six of us were supposed to share that one bottle. Since the water was supposed to be provided, we didn’t bring any. After about an hour, I couldn’t wait to get back and end the tour. Lesson learned.. I would not book with tahitiwelcometours.com ever again. Maybe you’ll have better luck.

Fantastic excursion around the island of Tahiti
Despite all the criticism you hear about Tahiti, once you are out of Papeete the island is beautiful. The best part were the waterfalls. Our guide was superb and helped us understand the history of French Polynesia.
