Breathtaking!
This show is absolutely spectacular! I did not have it on my itinerary when I went to Xi'an and didn't think much about it. I usually like nature and temples, so I didn't schedule it. I happened to ask my guide when I would get back from the tour and saw how inexpensive the show was, and I thought it may make a nice evening activity with a glass of wine. YES! I am so glad I went! The dancing, the costumes, the music is absolutely breathtaking and such an incredible tribute to the Tang Dynasty's most famous female empress! The theater itself is very beautiful, modern with classic Chinese designs. The show uses impressive dancing and stunts, and there are also digital components, narration, and live music at parts to accompany its powerful story. I went by myself, but a lot of tour companies stopped there. I was happy to sit in the back in the center with an unobstructed view away from phones or any sort of people talking. I don't like being around people in theaterical experiences in general, not just here. The staff were super sweet and offered me a closer seat, but I loved being in the back alone. You could see everything and there are even parts where the performers come in the aisles, so I got to see them up close. You can also arrange to have dinner there if you want. They have an awesome selection and serve in costume. I just had a glass of white wine which was wonderful, so even if you aren't feeling up to the dumpling dinner or a big meal, you can get a snack or a drink prior to the show. Be sure to get there about a half an hour early to check in and get settled. You can also take a picture with the actors if you want at the end. They do have an English translation on a side screen during the show so you can understand what is going on even not knowing Mandarin. I loved hearing the story spoken in Mandarin though. Overall, I LOVED it. I did not even plan on seeing and went on a chance. It is spectacular and a great way to close out your day after seeing the Terracotta Warriors or tour. I believe they have two shows a night, and I went to the 8pm which was well after my day tour. Stunning and such a beautiful surprise in Xi'an. I definitely recommend putting this terrific theatrical performance in your game plan.
Response from the operator: Thank you for this absolutely fantastic and detailed review! We're so glad that the Tang Dynasty Show became such a beautiful surprise – even though it wasn't on your original plan. From the breathtaking music, costumes, and dancing to the peaceful back‑row seat with a glass of wine, it sounds like the perfect evening. And thank you for the great tips – arriving early, enjoying a drink, and taking photos with the performers. We are proud to share this experience. Hope to see you again!

Very professional show
I loved this show. It was extremely professional and so colourful with lots of costume changes. The dancing was excellent and I’m sure all the cast were ballet trained. It was easy to follow the story as it came up on a screen in English at the side. The back drops were fantastic. We only saw the show ( no dumplings etc) and found the venue very easy to get to. The manager was very welcoming and even gave us a small gift. It’s really worth seeing, don’t miss out.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your lovely review! We're thrilled you enjoyed the professional performance, beautiful costumes, and easy-to-follow English subtitles. It's wonderful to hear that our manager's warm welcome made your experience special. We truly appreciate you highlighting the show's quality and recommending it to others. Hope to welcome you back for the dumpling banquet next time!

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Skip The Line Xi'an Tang Dynasty Show Or Dinner With Transfer: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Xian.
How much does Skip The Line Xi'an Tang Dynasty Show Or Dinner With Transfer cost?
+
Prices start at $39 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Xian usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Skip The Line Xi'an Tang Dynasty Show Or Dinner With Transfer take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Xian is not rushed.
Is Skip The Line Xi'an Tang Dynasty Show Or Dinner With Transfer worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Xian, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Skip The Line Xi'an Tang Dynasty Show Or Dinner With Transfer?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Skip The Line Xi'an Tang Dynasty Show Or Dinner With Transfer suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Skip The Line Xi'an Tang Dynasty Show Or Dinner With Transfer?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Xian can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Xian and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Skip The Line Xi'an Tang Dynasty Show Or Dinner With Transfer start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Xian within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Xian?
+
On Outty we rank every Xian experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Xi'an Day Tour: Terracotta Army&Optional City Attractions, All-Inclusive Terracotta Army Tour with Premium Buffet Lunch, 2-Day Customized Warriors Tours & Xian Top Attractions. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Xian?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Xian?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
