About this experience
Enjoy the grand spectacle of traditional Vietnamese water puppetry, with intricately-designed puppets performing over a pool of water Spare your family the stress of waiting for tickets to these popular evening shows Experience legends and stories of Vietnamese life from generations ago With the entrance ticket you have the chance to relish in the fascinating art of a water puppet show, which is closely associated with the spiritual life of Vietnamese people, especially in the countryside. The show’s chosen stage is the surface of a water pool. The puppeteers present their clever skills in managing puppets by long bamboo rods and string mechanism under the surface. A traditional Vietnamese orchestra is an excellent music accompaniment. The puppets depict the story from the songs during the show, which reflects the peaceful life of the Vietnamese countryside, so it is not too difficult to understand it.

Not my cup of tea, old theatre with a large pool where the stage would usually be and way too loud
I had heard a lot of hype about the pupert show, I found the music and singing way too loud, and there was no program on the storyline so as it’s in Vietnamese it made no sense. The theatre was like an old time movie theatre and a large pool where the stage would be. We booked on the day it was midweek so no issues, although I did ask for front row and the ticket lady said no, I asked for the following day and she said no “never” when we arrived and were seated, people in front of us held up their phones to video so it blocked our view, also the entire left hand row had about 10 seats and only two people!!!! My partner said the show was okay I rated it a 5/10

Traditional Vietnamese performance - water puppet show
The performance is divisive, but I really liked it. The music and the actors who voice the characters are quite loud. The air conditioning blows very strongly, if you are sensitive, don't sit near it. You can get wet in the first rows. They perform a traditional story with several parts with the puppets (e.g. rice cultivation).

I thought it was a unique look into the culture. It was fun to see all the puppets, fire and smoke. A must see!

Seamless
Showed booking reference at the counter, and was given allocated seats in second in second row. Lots of fun to watch, even not understanding the songs and story!

I went to redeem my Viator ticket purchase and they showed me this sign and did not honor my Viator tickets. I paid again and went in and it was a beautiful show, but unfortunate my Viator tickets were not honored

Why this scores 38
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Skip the Line: Golden Dragon Water Puppet Tickets: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ho Chi Minh City.
How much does Skip the Line: Golden Dragon Water Puppet Tickets cost?
+
Prices start at $22 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ho Chi Minh City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Skip the Line: Golden Dragon Water Puppet Tickets take?
+
Plan for about 0.9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ho Chi Minh City is not rushed.
Is Skip the Line: Golden Dragon Water Puppet Tickets worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 38 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 77 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in Ho Chi Minh City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Skip the Line: Golden Dragon Water Puppet Tickets?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Skip the Line: Golden Dragon Water Puppet Tickets suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Skip the Line: Golden Dragon Water Puppet Tickets?
+
Around 27 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ho Chi Minh City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ho Chi Minh City and add a light layer if any part of the 0.9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Skip the Line: Golden Dragon Water Puppet Tickets start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ho Chi Minh City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Ho Chi Minh City?
+
On Outty we rank every Ho Chi Minh City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Adventure Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta Tour From HCM, Cu Chi Tunnels Small-Group Tour: Vietnam War Underground Network, Cu Chi underground tour - Learn Vietnam war with others. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Ho Chi Minh City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Ho Chi Minh City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
