Less than an hour from Lisbon lies Sintra, home to the Pena Palace—conceived by King Ferdinand II, a great enthusiast of the Romantic movement. You can also explore the unique architecture of the eccentric Quinta da Regaleira. While strolling through the winding streets of the historic center, be sure to visit Piriquita to sample some traditional pastries. Thanks to its location between the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, Sintra boasts a unique microclimate. On the way back to Lisbon, you will travel along the coast, visiting Cabo da Roca—the westernmost point in Europe—and the picturesque fishing village of Cascais. Sea bathing became popular in the second half of the 19th century; when King Luís I chose the Cascais fortress as his summer residence, the nobility transformed the fishing village into a seaside resort filled with palaces and stately mansions.

Great day with a great guide!
Highlights were walking through the beautiful gardens at Pena Palace, viewing the interior rooms of the Palace, exploring the town of Sintra, stopping along the ocean in Caiscas. Our guide shared interesting information about Portugal’s history and politics. He went “above and beyond,” taking us to eat the Pastels de Belém and to the monument of explorers. He was very knowledgeable, talkative , engaging and fun to be with.
Response from the operator: Helloo, thank you for your review it means a lot to us!!! We are very happy that you enjoyed your day!!! See you next time!!!
