Pena Palace and Moorish Castle

Pena Palace is beautiful and the park is amazing. Arrive early because once you enter the park it is a 30 min walk up to the Palace. With the fog and mist, Moorish castle was mystical!

We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed exploring both the vibrant Pena Palace and the surrounding park, as well as the mystical atmosphere around the Moorish Castle. Your tip about arriving early for the 30-minute walk through the park is incredibly helpful for future travelers planning their visit. We truly appreciate you booking your entry tickets with us and hope to welcome you back on another memorable trip soon!

Great place - bad organization from Viator

Although the castle and the grounds of the palace are very nice, the way Viator books the timing is horrendous. We purposely booked early in the morning to accommodate our check out of the hotel, 0930 hrs for combo tour castle 1st and then the palace 2 nd, the process of booking with Viator only showed the 0930 start, great right? Well no, it seems someone thinks that a 4.5 hr gap between seeing the castle and the palace is an ok thing. There is not way we would have booked knowing that, but by the time the tickets were emailed to us the morning just as we arrived at the gates it was already too late. I contacted the customer service with the app and asked for a partial refund of the palace indoor tour, supposedly it is very beautiful, but hence a 4:30 entrance time ( start your line time) was not doable for us, but the communication went mute after some deflection of trivial banter. IF you are ever to use Viator , book way in advance, find out the timing of double entry excursions ahead of time before you pay. What we saw of the exterior of the palace was very nice, and the castle was great. Sintra - keep doing things as you are, lovely experience visiting you. Viatour - you need to do better

Not worth the money!

This was not worth the money. The crowds were overwhelming and there was so much confusion. I bought tickets for 11. The email information said 11 but when we opened up the tickets to scan they said 12. Why would they give us 7 tickets that say 12 but the email says your experience starts at 11?? The guard who scanned at the bottom had us move into the line. The guard at the top told us we had to start over because the actual digital ticker said noon. We had to wait another hour with 2 people being disabled. Rude and chaotic. And you only get to see a tiny part of the Pena. Such a waste of time for the price we paid. Tourist trap. Just look at the pictures online. And I am Portugese and cannot believe how poor the communication and ticket process was.

Pena/Moorish combo

I booked this combo package online (Pena Palace and Moorish Castle) online with 9:30 entry time. Online agenda shows venture starts at Pena Palace and ends at Moorish Castle. My tickets were forwarded the night before the event and showed entry to Pena Palace at 2:30p, not 9:30 am. This entry time did not line up with our day’s activities and was not explained/clear on website. The Customer Service Rep at Viator was great and worked with us the change our entry time. Both these properties are lovely and worth touring!!!

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We are glad that you had a great time visiting these places.

Sintra Pena Palace with Park and Moorish Castle Entry Tickets: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sintra.

How much does Sintra Pena Palace with Park and Moorish Castle Entry Tickets cost?

+

Prices start at $46 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sintra usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sintra Pena Palace with Park and Moorish Castle Entry Tickets take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sintra is not rushed.

Is Sintra Pena Palace with Park and Moorish Castle Entry Tickets worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.8/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Sintra, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sintra Pena Palace with Park and Moorish Castle Entry Tickets?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Sintra Pena Palace with Park and Moorish Castle Entry Tickets suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sintra Pena Palace with Park and Moorish Castle Entry Tickets?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sintra can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sintra and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sintra Pena Palace with Park and Moorish Castle Entry Tickets start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sintra within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Sintra?

+

On Outty we rank every Sintra experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Tour Sintra from Lisbon Palaces of Pena and Regaleira, Private Sintra Tour Palaces and Coast by Vintage Car or Jeep, Sintra Historical Jeep Adventure - Palaces & Secret Routes. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sintra?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sintra?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
