About this experience
Immerse yourself in waterfall hiking in one of the most unique geologic formations in Oregon! Over the course of the three hours we are in the canyon, we will discovering South Falls' stunning amphitheater and history as the centerpiece of a failed attempt to become Oregon's first National Park. From here we will descend into the up-and-down trails that make up the gorgeous canyon, encountering century-plus-old trees, wildflowers in season, mosses, lichens, and mushrooms and a variety of fantastic rock formations. We will experience up-close encounters with some of the state's most unusual and impressive waterfall formations. On this hiking experience we will explore 4-6 waterfalls and enjoy snacks with the option to purchase a light breakfast or lunch from the cafe. Our hike will be between three and eight miles (5 - 13 km) depending on group energy and desire.

Silver Falls State Park
With medium-intensity hikes, we will explore some of the most stunning and exciting waterfalls and geologic formations in Oregon. Over the three hours we are here, we will visit 3-6 waterfalls with your group's choice of two medium-length hikes (1-2 miles/3-5 kilometers each) or a longer point-to-point hike (5 miles / 8 kilometers) with your guide starting you at one end and picking you up at the other. We will walk around and behind South Falls, past lower South Falls, and have the exciting experience of walking past the sheet of water coursing over the falls; at North Falls, we will have the unique opportunity to see lava tree casts and near-old growth trees. Please note this hike is not technical but does have a lot of up and down hills and stairways; it's doable for most visitors who are comfortable walking the distance required.

Awesome experience!
Great experience all around! Friendly staff, knowledgeable and friendly guide and a beautiful Portland weather day (rainy, cloudy, then sun... you know, Portland!). Thank you so much for your time and attitude, Sara.

Beautiful Waterfall Tour
Lovely hike through the canyon to multiple waterfalls. Really neat to see so many different falls in such short mileage. Easy drive to the state park. I appreciated having the guide pick us up without having to complete the full loop! Carrie was knowledgeable about the area and even fed us wild growing berries along the way?

GO Chasing Waterfalls.
Fabulous...self-guided hike with just enough time to see all the park has to offer. There is nothing like a walk behind the waterfall. The pre-fuel stop at the coffee shop in Silverton was an added bonus. The hike has minimal elevation gain, so don't let the longer hike intimidate you. It's worth it.

Silver Falls Waterfall Hiking Tour from Portland: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Portland.
How much does Silver Falls Waterfall Hiking Tour from Portland cost?
+
Prices start at $99 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Portland usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Silver Falls Waterfall Hiking Tour from Portland take?
+
Plan for about 5.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Portland is not rushed.
Is Silver Falls Waterfall Hiking Tour from Portland worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 45 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Portland, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Silver Falls Waterfall Hiking Tour from Portland?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Silver Falls Waterfall Hiking Tour from Portland suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Silver Falls Waterfall Hiking Tour from Portland?
+
Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Portland can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Portland and add a light layer if any part of the 5.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Silver Falls Waterfall Hiking Tour from Portland start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Portland within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Portland?
+
Portland's activity list is food cart and brewery crawls, Columbia River Gorge waterfall tours to Multnomah Falls, Mount Hood day trips and Willamette Valley pinot tastings. Gorge tours vary in how many falls they reach, so route detail is the deciding factor. On Outty we rank every Portland experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full-Day Guided Oregon Coast Tour from Portland, Multnomah Falls and Columbia River Gorge Half-Day Hiking Tour, Columbia Gorge Waterfalls and Mt. Hood Tour - Full Day. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Portland?
+
June to October for the Gorge, with waterfalls at their fullest in spring. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Portland?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
