Breathtaking adventure
This was one of the best travel days of my life. Our driver, Prasanna, picked us up right on time at 7:30 am. We were originally going to leave at 9, and I was glad we changed to 730 so we could climb Sigiriya before it got too hot. Prasanna drove us to Sigiriya, and introduced us to our local guide there. He lead us through the gardens, teaching us about the history of the site and making little jokes. He had lots of patience as we climbed to the top and took incredible photos for us the entire way. The view at the top was absolutely stunning and I was so proud of myself for making the climb. It was breezy and just beautiful. The guide was just perfect, too. We had added on the village tour and I wasn’t sure what that entailed. We LOVED it. We took an ox-cart ride over to the water and then a boat to the other side to visit a traditional village. Prasanna accompanied us the entire way and translated when needed. The two women in the village made an amazing lunch for us and taught about the traditional cooking tools used. I can’t believe how much work it is to get all the meat out of a coconut. The lunch was delicious and the breeze kept it from being too hot. After the village tour we went to Dambulla Cave Temples which was also incredibly gorgeous and special. The carved Buddhas and the painting were exquisite. We brought pants that we could pull on over our shorts for this part of the tour. We also really enjoyed watching the monkeys on the 300+ steps up to the temples. I highly recommend this tour. I’ll never forget the experience of climbing Sigiriya.
Response from the operator: (J33974U03) Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that your day exploring Sigiriya, the village tour, and Dambulla Cave Temples was such a memorable experience. It’s great to know that Prasanna and your guide helped make the day so special, and that you enjoyed every part of the adventure — from the climb and views to the delicious village lunch. We truly appreciate your kind words and recommendation. It was a pleasure to have you with us, and we hope to welcome you again in the future!
