Mostly awesome with one less than awesome bit

This was an awesome tour except for one thing. I’ll start with the good: Loved our driver Fazeel and our safari driver also, both were great. Fazeel was super nice and knowledgeable, answering all of our questions and giving us great information about the culture. He confirmed our departure time with the hotel the day prior and showed up ten minutes early. His driving skills were also great, and he worked really hard to meet our needs along the way. The three sites are amazing. We really enjoyed all three and they are the biggest highlights of our trip so far. Now the thing I’m knocking off two stars for: the tour started out with a stop at an “herb garden” which turned out to be a one-hour sales pitch for (extremely overpriced) Ayurveda products. And which of course is not listed on the itinerary. This would have been annoying, but fine, if it was 15 minutes. It was literally an hour and included being pressured into a 10-15 minute free massage that you’re of course expected to tip for—which I did not partake in but my companions did. I should have dipped out 10 minutes in and just told the person giving us the presentation we wanted to be on our way. That’s what I’ll do next time and what I would recommend others do unless you really want someone to walk you to each plant and list off the different conditions the plant helps with and what product they sell containing that product. Better yet just tell your driver you want to skip it. The time spent here also contributed to us being behind schedule and rushed the rest of the day. Honestly I’m still seething at wasting time somewhere I didn’t ask to be and didn’t want to be that could have been spent at the sites I paid to see. If the rest of the tour wasn’t amazing I’d be giving one star. Everything else was amazing though and I’d still recommend it with that caveat.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback with us. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the safari and the three sites, and that our driver Fazeel and safari driver provided excellent service and valuable insights throughout your trip. We truly appreciate your kind words about their professionalism and dedication. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the extended stop at the herb garden. Our drivers are trained to take guests to both major and additional places, always with the guest’s willingness and comfort in mind. Clearly, in this case, we fell short, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We will address it to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to welcome you back for an even better experience in the future.

    Amazing day out

We had a brilliant day with Fazeel, he made sure everything went smoothly and after torrential rain he checked it was safe for us to climb Sirigirya rock. He gave us loads of helpful information and was a very kind person. The safari guide also went out of his way to ensure we saw elephants despite the weather.

    A grand day out!

Fazeel was an excellent guide who looked after us for 12 hours! He was very helpful, chatty. patient and we had a wonderful day with him. Do climb the Lion Rock - even in the rain it only takes 30 minutes. He took us to an excellent buffet lunch and was a careful and considerate driver

    Day trip from Kandy

We thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Sigiriya and Minneriya National Park to see the elephants. We also were lucky enough to see a ceremony at a Hindu temple which was a bonus. Our guide Indika was excellent - friendly, full of great information and very accommodating. We recommend this tour.

    Not to be missed activities

Great day visiting national park and then Sigariya. Large herd of elephants including several babies came almost within touching distance so very special experience. And Siga lions rock an amazing place - pretty hard work getting up the 1200 stairs to see the remains of the palace but made it with some help from guide.

Sigiriya, Dambulla and Minneriya National Park Private Tour In: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kandy.

How much does Sigiriya, Dambulla and Minneriya National Park Private Tour In cost?

    +

Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kandy usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sigiriya, Dambulla and Minneriya National Park Private Tour In take?

    +

Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kandy is not rushed.

Is Sigiriya, Dambulla and Minneriya National Park Private Tour In worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kandy, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sigiriya, Dambulla and Minneriya National Park Private Tour In?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sigiriya, Dambulla and Minneriya National Park Private Tour In suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 11-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sigiriya, Dambulla and Minneriya National Park Private Tour In?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kandy can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kandy and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sigiriya, Dambulla and Minneriya National Park Private Tour In start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kandy within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kandy?

    +

On Outty we rank every Kandy experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Explore Kandy City Tour by Tuk Tuk, Tours and Transportation in Sri Lanka, Chauffeur guide and Tour organizer. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kandy?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kandy?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
