Recommendable to Discovery Sri Lanka gastromonic culture

Incredible experience. Shyama and her family was very nice. We could cook 8 different traditional dishes from the Sri Lanka culture by us with their support after bought all the food in the market. Despite there was Nacional Bank Holidays in the City and was cahotic with the market closed, Shyama found alternatives to buy the ingredientes. Very recommendable

    Super tasty cooking class!

This was truly a lovely experience and I absolutely felt it worth the money. I already loved cooking but I still learned so much about cooking with many ingredients I had very little to no experience with from many of the dishes that I have come to love during my time in Sri Lanka. I will definitely be making these at home! We met Shyama and her husband Wasu at the market for the shopping where they taught us about many strange vegetables we do not have at home. Then they took us to their place and made us feel right at home. Shyama was great with her instructions and explanations and at getting everyone there involved in the cooking process. And Wasu was also an absolute legend with the help he gave too! This really ticked a lot of boxes for us: fun, excellent value for money, social, educational, nourishing and Super tasty!!! A 5 star experience for sure. (:

    Great!!

We had a wonderful afternoon, the tour to the market is really typical and the cooking class is very interesting! We cooked the typical Sri Lankan dishes firsthand! The owners are really kind and helpful

    THE BEST COOKING CLASS!

I absolutely loved every little thing about this cooking class and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn how to cook authentic Sri Lankan food. The chef was amazing and took the time to teach us every little detail, making the experience both fun and informative. The food we prepared was absolutely delicious, and you could really tell how much passion and knowledge went into the class. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Kandy, Sri Lanka. It’s absolutely worth it!!

    Amazing experience!

If you’re only going to do one activity in Kandy, make sure it’s this cooking class! It was a 10/10 experience for us. We were picked up from our hotel and warmly welcomed by two incredibly kind ladies. The location is absolutely beautiful, with an amazing kitchen that, we were told, is a truly authentic Sri Lankan kitchen. Shyama and Kumari were wonderful and helped us prepare some of the most delicious Sri Lankan dishes. What we especially loved was that we got to do most of the cooking ourselves, while Shyama and Kumari guided us and helped whenever needed. The food was absolutely delicious, and the whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. Overall, we would highly recommend this cooking class to anyone visiting Kandy!

Kandy Village Cooking Class: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kandy.

How much does Kandy Village Cooking Class cost?

    +

Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kandy usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Kandy Village Cooking Class take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kandy is not rushed.

Is Kandy Village Cooking Class worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 91 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 701 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Kandy, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.

Can I cancel or reschedule Kandy Village Cooking Class?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Kandy Village Cooking Class suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Kandy Village Cooking Class?

    +

Around 245 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kandy can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kandy and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Kandy Village Cooking Class start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kandy within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kandy?

    +

On Outty we rank every Kandy experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Explore Kandy City Tour by Tuk Tuk, Tours and Transportation in Sri Lanka, Chauffeur guide and Tour organizer. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kandy?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kandy?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
