Great village cycle tour!

Great village tour! We were between this cycling tour or another village tour recommended by our driver and we ended up going with this one - I’m glad we did! We booked it the evening before and it was just us two so got a a private tour which was nice. The best part was our tour guide, Chameera! He was so genuine and passionate about the area. He studied environmental studies at university and was very knowledgeable about wildlife and village life - we learned so much from him! The bikes worked fine, biked a total of about 7.5 miles (there were some a couple do semi bumpy terrain parts but if was fine). Felt very chill paced just cycling around the village while seeing lots of different birds. We are gluten free and eat no fish - this was noted and accommodated for at lunch thanks to our tour guide. Lunch was delicious and well balanced. It was one of those tours where my heart fell full afterwards - all due to having Chameera, so we got very lucky. We didn’t feel like just another number and he truly enjoyed touring us around. Highly recommend!

Fun cycle tour!

What a lovely way to explore Sigiriya! We had a tuk tuk arranged by the company to pick us up from our hotel and take us to the meeting point. There we met our guide and hopped on our bikes for a peaceful ride through the countryside. We stopped at a few temples and sites where our lovely guide explained the history of them. There were a few excellent viewpoints to take in the magnificent peaks! We then stopped in a village and visited a farm where we got to learn about the local agriculture and see some impressive crops. We helped make a salad which we enjoyed with a lovely lunch with the local family. Overall a very joyous half day adventure and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something different to do in Sigiriya!

Our Favorite Tour Of Our Trip!

The cycle tour made it the best day of our trip so far. Our guide, Harsha, was so fun and incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the ruins we visited and about all of the wildlife we saw. And we encountered some amazing wildlife! I think my favorite part of the day was lunch. We rode to a small, tidy farm, owned and operated by one family and a few workers. The family hand made all of the chairs and tables that we sat at from recycled materials like tires, and made all of the utensils and dishes from coconut and bamboo. They were so creative and functional! The food was traditionally Sri Lankan and so delicious. Between the food, the family, and the setting, it's honestly one of the best lunches we've ever had. The ride was about 9 miles, all flat on dirt/gravel roads. We passed almost no traffic, which was nice. The bikes were not in the best shape, but the breaks worked and they got us to where we needed to go. The seats were adjustable so riding was comfortable for me with very short legs and my husband who has very long ones.

+

Can I cancel or reschedule Sigiriya Cycle Tour: Explore Village Life in Sigiriya & Enjoy a Village Lunch?

+

How far in advance should I book Sigiriya Cycle Tour: Explore Village Life in Sigiriya & Enjoy a Village Lunch?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sigiriya can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sigiriya and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Sigiriya?

+

On Outty we rank every Sigiriya experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sajee’s Place Cooking Class sigiriya, Private Jeep Safari at Minneriya National Park to Visit Elephants, Organic cooking class sigiriya (kumara & family). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Sigiriya?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Sigiriya?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
