What you'll see and do
Prasat Beng Mealea
Beng Mealea is a very impressive temple built in the reign of King Suryavarman II, 12th century CE, and modified by Jayavarman VII. It is located in Beng Mealea village, Beng Mealea commune, Svay Leu District, Siem Reap province. It is about 77 Km Northwest of Siem Reap town and faces the eastern part of Kulen mountain on one side. Importantly, it is situated along the Royal Road to the east of Angkor, where leads from the eastern part of Bakheng mountain. From Angkor the Royal Road passes temples such as Bat Chum, Cao Srei Vibol, Banteay Ampil and Beng Mealea to Preah Khan Kampong Svay. This ancient road has well constructed bridges such as Spean Ta Oung, Spean Khvav and Spean Khmeng. Beng Mealea is flanked by Prasat Don Chan and Prasat Koh Chin on the west, Prasat Kong Pluk and Prasat Jrei on the east.

Tips for Siem Reap trip in July, Food, tours, currency ( money) weather, museum
We have been in Siem Reap 3 days. Here are some tips. It is currently the shoulder into the monsoon, so expect at minimum a heavy downpour at 4pm. The good side it is mainly cloudy so no hot burning sun. That means no beautiful sunrise/ sunset. And less crowds. I can’t imagine the peace and tranquility we felt at the temples yesterday in the peak season. Also it is beautiful, lush and green. A good restraunt we have discovered in Beer St is Rachana, next to Mesa. Staff are very friendly, wonderful food and menu, good draught beer and 2 for 1 cocktails. The staff are beautiful, helpful and give you little welcome tray on arrival. Everything has high levels hygiene. For $22- US we had several drinks and 2 large meals. And a pleasant evening watching the passer-by’s and chatting with the staff. Give it a try, I think you will like it. Bring some US $ with you, only excellent quality notes, no $2-. Use ATMs in banks with security guards. Some atms charge a % fee, others a set fee so if you take more $ out the fees are less. Many ATMs only stock US $ not local currency. We did a city tour on a tuk tuk the first day, a wonderful way to familiarise yourself to the town. Just with a guy off the st ,so pot luck, but adds to the fun. Please at least go to the museum before the temples. We felt we got a lot more out of the Temple tour having done this. Yesterday we did the 3 main temples by private guide and driver in car. Well worth it in the heat and you can tailor things, and so can your guide sensing your interests. You also learn a lot not just about the temples, but Cambodian life and history. The culture from the guide. Hope this helps others planning trips.🙂

Siem Reap to Beng Melea and Visit Khmer Empire Capital Koh Ker: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Siem Reap.
How much does Siem Reap to Beng Melea and Visit Khmer Empire Capital Koh Ker cost?
+
Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Siem Reap usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Siem Reap to Beng Melea and Visit Khmer Empire Capital Koh Ker take?
+
Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Siem Reap is not rushed.
Is Siem Reap to Beng Melea and Visit Khmer Empire Capital Koh Ker worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 1 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Siem Reap, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Siem Reap to Beng Melea and Visit Khmer Empire Capital Koh Ker?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Siem Reap to Beng Melea and Visit Khmer Empire Capital Koh Ker suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 11-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Siem Reap to Beng Melea and Visit Khmer Empire Capital Koh Ker?
+
Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Siem Reap can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Siem Reap and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Siem Reap to Beng Melea and Visit Khmer Empire Capital Koh Ker start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Siem Reap within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Siem Reap?
+
On Outty we rank every Siem Reap experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Small-Group and Guide tours, Angkor Wat full Day 'Small Group with sunset & Tour Guide, Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Tour with Guide from Siem Reap. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Siem Reap?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Siem Reap?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
