    Pass by without stopping

  2. Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, you’ll board the train departing at 6:10 a.m. toward Km 104, the starting point of the Short Inca Trail. During this 1 hour and 15-minute scenic journey, you’ll travel along the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, passing through charming Andean villages and vast cornfields that have been cultivated since Inca times. As the train continues, the landscape transforms dramatically—from high Andean valleys and ancient terraces to the lush cloud forest that marks the beginning of the Amazon Basin. This beautiful train ride offers the perfect introduction before starting your unforgettable Inca Trail hike at Km 104.

Most memorable city tour of Cuzco and inka trail

Best tour ever ! Hipolito is very knowledgeable and so friendly . He took us on a most memorable city tour of Cuzco along with a super fun inka trail hike up to monkey temple and sun temple - we even stumbled on the cutest dog who we named Sabrina along the trail and she lovingly joined us all the way to the top . Hipo was very very sweet with the doggie and even offered to take her back down in our taxi which I thought was just so compassionate of him ❤️highly recommend

An amazing experience

I can’t say enough good things about this hike! The 2-day Short Inca Trail offered a great mix of adventure and history. The guide was fantastic and kept the group motivated while sharing fascinating stories about the Inca civilization. The highlight, of course, was seeing Machu Picchu at sunrise , it was beyond words. An amazing experience!"

Short Inca Trail + Inca Museum Cusco 2024

This feedback goes personally to the one and only Hipo! My cousin and wife + me and my partner booked the short Inca Trail months ago and got Hipo as a tour guide for those 2 intense days. And the four of us feel incredibly lucky! Hipo was perfectly prepared. The next early morning we started our trip from Cusco to the starting point of our hike. We were all beginners more or less, so we were taking a lot of breaks. Hipo was so patient, motivating and cared for our safety at the same time. He made sure we drank enough water, water, water! The trekk itself is great for beginners who have a minimum fitness level. It can get tough at some points but Hipo was always there to assist you. No worries! After hours of hiking you finally get rewarded with a stunning view of the Ruins of the Machu Picchu! It is breathtaking. After this trekk I'm 100% convinced that you would miss out all the information and super interesting history about the Inca and the Ruins! If you want a great guide, HIPO is the one to go for! You can get a terribly disappointing experience if you just book a circuit without having a really good guide. And you'd miss out so many legends, stories, a private touch of a local and great conversation at night with great food and cheering together with Hipo! I loved his connection with the nature and his culture. You could feel it through the way he explained not only the history of the Inca and the Machu Picchu but how everything is connected with each other, with mother earth. Such a competent, fun, cool, lovely guy! Hipo answered all our questions, he is super funny, has a great spirit and just loving every step of every trekk he's doing. That's why we asked him to give us a tour through the Inca Museum in Cusco, too. He took the time to explain every gallery in detail which was great because we saw how other guides passed us and we're finished long before us. You feel that Hipo really wants you to understand. Understand the connection, the history, hear great legends and he makes sure that all your questions will be answered. We are very happy and thankful for this experience in and around Cusco. Thank you Hipo, you're a great 5 Star guide! ☆☆☆☆☆

Short Inca Trail 2 Days–Epic Machu Picchu Adventure via Sun Gate: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.

How much does Short Inca Trail 2 Days–Epic Machu Picchu Adventure via Sun Gate cost?

+

Prices start at $715 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Short Inca Trail 2 Days–Epic Machu Picchu Adventure via Sun Gate take?

+

Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.

Is Short Inca Trail 2 Days–Epic Machu Picchu Adventure via Sun Gate worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Short Inca Trail 2 Days–Epic Machu Picchu Adventure via Sun Gate?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Short Inca Trail 2 Days–Epic Machu Picchu Adventure via Sun Gate suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 15. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 48-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Short Inca Trail 2 Days–Epic Machu Picchu Adventure via Sun Gate?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Short Inca Trail 2 Days–Epic Machu Picchu Adventure via Sun Gate start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cusco?

+

On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cusco?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cusco?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
