    Super Jeep Tour

Great experience with Lino our "Crazy Driver". The tour to the mountains in eastern Madeira was super beautiful and facets rich. We can recommend it to anyone

    Most uncomfortable Ride

This was the first time using this company and my last time! The jeep that was used for the tour I is for four persons and not for six persons. We were placed in the back of the vehicle on jump seats facing each other with no view! It was the worst and most uncomfortable ride we have ever experienced. The driver did a poor job of telling us where we were going and what we were seeing! Poor communication skills! We don't remember this tour!

    Safari Jeep Tour

So glad we booked this tour. It was such a great day, especially for my husband as it was his birthday. The humour, friendship and the knowledge of the island that Lino provided was first class. We have been on many tours of the Island, but this jeep tour was by far the best we have had. Great company and so many laughs. Lino isThe Grren Devil!!! We particularly enjoyed Lino's stunning ability to talk to the animals! Our travelling companions were also great fun and up for an adventure. Definitely recommend this safari jeep tour with Lino or Bruno. Thank yiu for such a memorable day. Silvia and Kevin. Xx

EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A REAL SEAT

Ok the reasons you should avoid this tour. On April 27. 2023 on Funchal Madera we went in a convoy of 5 jeeps. 3 were fine having places for one passenger in front, three were in the next row and 2 seats in the back facing each other. However, there were 2 jeeps (alas one of ours) that had the seating for one in the front seat, 3 in the second and then had hard benches facing each other in the back where they stuffed 4 people, 2 on each side, without anything to hold onto seating on these hard benches. (the jeep was a tad larger but we 4 in the back were crushed together.) Ok, we are going up and down mountainous terrain, moving back and forth, trying not to move around without secure seats and in really cramped position for at least 6 hours. I know the guide--more on him later—had little choice but to put the 4 of us—one over 80 and 2 others in their late 70s as well as an overweight lady, in that back as the 4 positions with regular seats could only be occupied by 2 large men, 1 large women and a thin wife as the first three could not fit in the back. These guests felt so bad for us cramped in the back they still volunteered to take turns as it was obvious we had been put in a dangerous and crowded position—as we went up and down mountains with sharp turns and off-road. No seatbelts. We were in a jeep convoy, I noted that 3 of the jeeps did not have our configuration: instead—in the smaller jeep version the last 2 seats at the back for guests were real seats facing each other rather than 4 of us sprawled to try to find a space on a bench at the back. That would have been fine. So here is the luck of the draw: there were many great things concerning this trip, but if the owner continues to schedule 4 people in awful benches in the back of those two jeeps, beware. Both those in our jeep and others who saw the situation were—as we were—simply appalled. Now the great part. Our guide—Spencer Thorpe--was fabulous-- great knowledge of the island, fun and a fantastic driver. The lunch midway was absolutely top notch, the sights worth the trip. However, until the owner shows more care for those who book this and guarantees each person a real and safe seat, I would avoid.

    Great day trip

Excellent day trip. Superb driver and guide. Diogo was knowledgeable and fun to be with. If we could score him 6 we would. Lots to see on this trip.

Shore Excursion - East Madeira Peaks & Santana: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.

How much does Shore Excursion - East Madeira Peaks & Santana cost?

    +

Prices start at $82 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Shore Excursion - East Madeira Peaks & Santana take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.

Is Shore Excursion - East Madeira Peaks & Santana worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Shore Excursion - East Madeira Peaks & Santana?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Shore Excursion - East Madeira Peaks & Santana suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Shore Excursion - East Madeira Peaks & Santana?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Shore Excursion - East Madeira Peaks & Santana start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Funchal?

    +

On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Funchal?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Funchal?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
