About this experience
Our day will begin with delicious coffee to give us energy for the adventure that awaits! Then we will jump in the van and drive to the area of Xoxocotlan, where the Salgados family will welcome us to their silver jewelry workshop. For over three generations, the Salgados have elevated Oaxacan jewelry design to a national level. From Xoxo we will head further down the road to San Martin Tilcajete, where we will visit the only workshop in Oaxaca where women are in charge of crafting Alebrijes. They explain and demonstrate the process, enlightening us on what it means to be a woman in a predominately male-run creative field. In the same town, we will stop at “Almuu,” a traditional comedor set in a garden surrounded by plants. Sample a family style lunch. Our last stop of the day is just a few minutes away in the town of Ocotlan, where a maestro sombrerero awaits us. Here we will learn the craft of hat making and you’ll have the opportunity to find a sombrero that is just for you.

Fun and fascinating!
I have known Yesi for many years now and can highly recommend her knowledge of the tourist regions of Oaxaca as well as her professionalism as a trained guide. Her English is impressive, clear and easily understood. Her personality is effusive and fun, and she’s always up for a great adventure. As a tour guide she’s reliable and energetic, and her tours in the area of traditional silver jewelry and hat making are unique in Oaxaca, important facets of the local culture that are often overlooked by more traditional tours.

Yesi is the very best of Oaxaca (and will show you the very best too!)
I highly recommend booking an experience with Yesi. Her passion for Oaxaca and introducing you to the very best the region has to offer is unparalleled. She knows the best of everything (and everyone!) -- food vendors, artisans, and other locals, like her, who are truly exemplary at what they do and eager to show off what makes Oaxaca such a rich and dynamic place to explore. I particularly liked how she seeks to elevate other Oaxacan women-owned and family-operated businesses who are, like are her, preserving and sharing their rich traditions and sacred places. Yesi is a fantastic communicator, punctual, and, most importantly, generous and kind. Everyone she works with is top-notch, too. You're in the very best hands when you're with Yesi!

Shopping Tour in Southern Oaxaca: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oaxaca City.
How much does Shopping Tour in Southern Oaxaca cost?
+
Prices start at $1500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oaxaca City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Shopping Tour in Southern Oaxaca take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oaxaca City is not rushed.
Is Shopping Tour in Southern Oaxaca worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oaxaca City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Shopping Tour in Southern Oaxaca?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Shopping Tour in Southern Oaxaca suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Shopping Tour in Southern Oaxaca?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oaxaca City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oaxaca City and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Shopping Tour in Southern Oaxaca start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oaxaca City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Oaxaca City?
+
On Outty we rank every Oaxaca City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include AUTHENTIC OAXACA CULTURAL FOOD TOUR, eat like a local., Hierve el Agua 2.5 hours, Mitla, Tule, Rugs and Mezcal for a Day, Traditional Oaxaqueña Cooking with Grandma's Recipes. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Oaxaca City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Oaxaca City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
