This log cabin sits just as it did 130 years ago and is on the National Register of Historic Places. You will visit Morgan Church during your stop at Inspiration Point which is the highest point in Southwest Missouri where Harold Bell Wright camped while writing the book. The view is so spectacular that the name of this hill is Inspiration Point. The Shepherd of the Hills was the beginning of the Branson phenomena. Wonderful tour, don’t miss it.
We were do pleased with this tour. First, Cowboy John was so personable, friendly, and helpful. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history and is a descendant of people who lived there. He also had actual pictures from the time. We could not have asked for a better guide!

Ultimate Ticket at Shepherd of the Hills
We bought the Ultimate ticket which included the Farm Tour, Chuckwagon Hoedown dinner show, and the Shepherd of the Hills nighttime drama. All three were excellent!! Our Farm Tour guide was Cowboy John. He knew SO many interesting facts and was an unbelievably great guide. The Hoedown food was very good and the show was wonderful. Cowboy John was a lead singer and the group was as good as any you could find in Branson. The play was entertaining and faithfully acted out the Shepherd of the Hills book by Harold Bell Wright. Altogether an entertaining and memorable day which we highly recommend.

Best Step Back in Time Ever
Can't say enough about this tour and our guide Cowboy John. His family is part of the Shepherd of the Hills history which led to the most enjoyable step back in time tour. This brought back childhood memories of seeing the Shepherd of the Hills performance and although we ran out of time, I now want to go back.

Very fun
Cowboy John was a wonderful host. He was very knowledgeable and shared the history of the area in a very engaging way. Being a member of the Sons of the Pioneers, he also treated us to a song. Very fun experience

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Shepherd of the Hills Historic Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Branson.
How much does Shepherd of the Hills Historic Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $18 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Branson usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Shepherd of the Hills Historic Tour take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Branson is not rushed.
Is Shepherd of the Hills Historic Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 107 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Branson, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Shepherd of the Hills Historic Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Shepherd of the Hills Historic Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Shepherd of the Hills Historic Tour?
+
Around 37 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Branson can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Branson and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Shepherd of the Hills Historic Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Branson within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Branson?
+
Branson is show country: theatre productions, dinner cruises on Table Rock Lake, Silver Dollar City, Ozark cave tours and duck boat alternatives on the water. Show tickets vary in seating tier, so we weight listings that spell it out. On Outty we rank every Branson experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Haygoods: Branson's Most Popular Show, The Petersens at The Little Opry Theatre in Branson, Branson Murder Mystery- Branson's Original #1 Murder Mystery. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Branson?
+
April to June and September to December for the Christmas season. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Branson?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
