Spending over 200 days at sea each year means we're able to give our guests the most natural encounter with sharks possible. We specialize in small groups and our Eco-friendly approach to expeditions ensures an intimate and educational experience when choosing Shark Zone. Our dedicated team love what they do. It’s their passion and expertise that makes each expedition a personal and highly rewarding one. Our approach to our Great White shark expeditions showcases both the sharks and the environment in which they live, offering guests a deeper understanding of these magnificent animals. There are also good months for seeing multiple species together, but these may be out of peak months for special behavior. July is a fantastic month to see the Great Whites hunting seals. It is however, not the best month for seeing dolphins or Southern Right Whales. If you choose mid to late August there is a good chance to see both natural predation Southern Right Whales.

Sharks were the only thing missing! 😕
Unfortunately we didn’t see any sharks but the boat staff tried very hard to lure them in for several hours. When we finally gave up they took us on a quick ride to see the seals which was cool. They also provided good snacks and water/juice on the boat. There was also fresh coffee at the meet up location and our shuttle driver was very nice. (Note: first outing was canceled due to weather a couple days prior so we fit this in on our last day in Cape Town) Personally think they should either give a partial refund when that happens or offer a voucher to use at a different time. In addition they charged more than half for our additional 4th person to ride on the boat with us (not diving) and the boat was less than half capacity. (Her son was diving so she wanted to be there to take pictures and watch.) Lastly, they did not provide anyone to take any photos so come with camera ready! 😉
Response from the operator: Dear JJ Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately no one can ever guarantee sightings for obvious reasons. We dealing with wild animals in the open ocean. Viewers do pay the same price as divers otherwise everyone would want to come on the boat to take pictures. As you mentioned our crew tried for several hours to attract sharks and as always endeavor to do so. I believe it’s totally ingenious to base your rating on the fact there were no sightings as your review title mentions. If you go on an excellent game drive but see no animals it would be unfair to give it a poor rating. I’m very disappointed with this review as I find it baseless. We do in fact do vouchers to come back another time free of charge Regards Stephen Owner We unable to do monetary refunds as it is very costly to run a tour for obvious reasons too (fuel, staff, etc)

How far in advance should I book Shark Cage Diving & Viewing in False Bay?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cape Town?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cape Town?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
