Touristy Oriental Pearl Restaurant Experience
The Oriental Pearl buffet restaurant has an amazing view, especially after dark, and has a very large selection of Asian and non-Asian dishes, and allows people to bypass the very large lineup for the observation level, which is a big plus. However the food quality is generally poor, there are long lineups at the buffet stations, with crowds everywhere, and there is no table service (I.e. for additional drinks). Given the high price, experience / quality issues and overcrowding, I cannot recommend the buffet restaurant.

Very good
This includes a lot of things for the price including the Shanghai history museum which was unexpected.

Fun time.
I don’t know why some people gave this such a low rating? We had a great time with the dinner buffet. Did a little research for the dinner buffet. Arrived at the tower at 17:30, had a little bit under an hour to explore the two levels in the first sphere before sun down. Lined up at 18:30 for the buffet dinner. Hey, the seating area revolves around, which is pretty cool. The food is decent. Lots of choices. It’s like most buffet places, you get lots of choices. After dinner, you go down to the first sphere and you can explore if you want to do the two activities at the 90 meter area. If not, head down the last glass elevator and out. Fun 3.5 hours of my life. Go down a little early after dinner if you want to explore the first sphere as the tower closes at 9. A few shops on the ground level. It’s fun, even though I am a little afraid of heights, i managed to walk a little on the glas floor before my knees shaked a little too much. Time well spent.
Response from the operator: Dear James_N, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed and lovely review about your Oriental Pearl Tower ticket & buffet experience booked through us! We are thrilled to hear you thoroughly enjoyed your 3.5-hour visit, the rotating revolving restaurant buffet with abundant food selections, the sunset sightseeing on the first sphere, as well as the thrilling glass floor experience, even with your slight fear of heights. It makes us delighted that our reservation service helped you arrange a smooth and wonderful itinerary for your evening at the Oriental Pearl Tower. We really appreciate your sincere feedback and your reasonable tips for future visitors. It means a lot to us that you thought highly of this activity despite some low average ratings. We sincerely hope we can have the pleasure to assist you with more fantastic tour arrangements during your future trips to Shanghai or other destinations. Wish you all the best! Best regards

The first glance can deceive you.
It is a structure that, at first glance, looks merely modernist—nothing more. But when you venture into its depths, you discover something truly impressive and remarkably well-built. We rode a roller coaster inside, and it was anything but smooth; I wouldn't recommend it for those with sensitive stomachs or a tendency toward motion sickness. For me, it was a terrible, jarring experience—though everything else was fantastic.
Response from the operator: Dear Manuel_F, Thank you very much for sharing your genuine and detailed review of the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai and for your kind feedback on our ticket booking service. We’re happy to hear you were deeply impressed by the stunning architecture and overall wonderful experience at the Oriental Pearl Tower. We truly appreciate your honest reminder about the indoor roller coaster, and we totally understand your uncomfortable experience during the ride. It is very thoughtful of you to kindly remind other visitors with motion sickness or sensitive stomachs. We are glad our ticket reservation service brought you a convenient and smooth visit. We hope you enjoyed your wonderful time in Shanghai. We look forward to welcoming you again for your next travel adventure in the future. Best Regards

A Myst Do Experience
Absolutely worth every penny, so much to see and unsurprisingly so well organised. Excellent value for money, the buffet was absolutely amazing so much choice especially if you like seafood, including wonderful sweet lobster and massive choice of fruit juices and unlimited beer. This is an experience not to be missed, you will be overwhelmed by the size of the tower and the interior. There even a very scary ride and a glass walkway. 5 stars but for me everything about Shanghai is 5 stars

Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower Entry Ticket (Optional Buffet): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Shanghai.
How much does Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower Entry Ticket (Optional Buffet) cost?
+
Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Shanghai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower Entry Ticket (Optional Buffet) take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Shanghai is not rushed.
Is Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower Entry Ticket (Optional Buffet) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 37 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Shanghai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower Entry Ticket (Optional Buffet)?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower Entry Ticket (Optional Buffet) suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower Entry Ticket (Optional Buffet)?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Shanghai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Shanghai and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower Entry Ticket (Optional Buffet) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Shanghai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Shanghai?
+
On Outty we rank every Shanghai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Shanghai Full Day City Tour with Old and New Highlights, Full-Day Private Guided Tour of Shanghai, Shanghai City Guided Walking Tour | China's 1st and Best Rated. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Shanghai?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Shanghai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
