3. Wukang Mansion

   Tucked away on Anyi Road in the heart of Shanghai’s former French Concession, the Former Residence of Mao Zedong offers a rare glimpse into the early revolutionary years of one of China’s most influential leaders. Mao Zedong lived here briefly in 1924 while working for the Shanghai branch of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) and engaging in revolutionary activities. The modest two-story house, surrounded by leafy lanes, retains much of its original layout and furnishings, providing visitors with a vivid sense of life during that turbulent era. Inside, you’ll find period furniture, historical documents, and exhibits detailing Mao’s work and life in Shanghai.
