Finally got to see the real Alaska!
I am so happy I booked this boat tour with Kenai Fjords! After our 7 day cruise from Vancouver to Seward, where I spotted nothing from the ship (others saw whales but I didn't), I was bummed until I went on this boat tour. Almost immediately, we spotted orcas! Then 2 different humpback whales (including a fluke), puffins, sea otters, sea lions, a fast moving porpoise and the piece de resistance... A huge glacier! We got so close! The crew fished a piece of glacier ice out of the water and we got to hold it. I even had a glacier ice water! The clearest ice you've ever seen. The boat captain and crew members were so attentive, informative, and fun. Even though my kid got sick on the boat, the majority of people were fine and I didn't think the boat rocked too much. Every time we stopped, our captain made sure to stay for awhile and maneuver the boat for the best viewing of the wildlife. I took 400+ photos. This was the highlight of my 12 day trip to Alaska. The boat also has a great burrito, chips, and salsa for lunch, plenty of snacks/drinks for purchase and some freshly baked chocolate chip cookies to end the day. They also held our luggage in their secured room in their office while we were in the tour. They made everything very easy from start to finish.
Response from the operator: Thank you for such a wonderful and detailed review! We’re thrilled Kenai Fjords Tours became the highlight of your Alaska trip. It sounds like you had an incredible day with orcas, humpbacks, puffins, otters, sea lions, and that spectacular glacier! We’re especially glad our crew made the experience easy, informative, and fun from start to finish. We hope those 400+ photos bring back great memories for years to come!

Excellent tour - well worth it.
Excellent, excellent, excellent tour, captain was very good on history and educating us on the area and sea life and glaciers. The glacier was breath taking so beautiful and blue. Waterfalls were beautiful and sea life was so cool to see in the wild. We saw whales, sea lions, otters, puffins, seals, eagles, lots of birds and some jelly fish. Amazing day. Great tour.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your amazing review! We're so glad you had an excellent experience and enjoyed learning from our captain while taking in the breathtaking glaciers, waterfalls, and incredible wildlife. It sounds like you had a fantastic day on the water, and we're thrilled you were able to see so many of Alaska's iconic animals. We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable adventure!

Sea creatures galore!
We had an amazing day at sea! In addition to the scheduled sights, we saw bald eagles, sea otters, harbor seals, Dall's porpoises, humpback whales, fin whales, and orcas. We never would have seen many of these incredible animals from land. It was truly a marvelous day!
Response from the operator: Thank you for the great review! We're so glad you enjoyed the incredible wildlife sightings and had a memorable day on the water. Thank you for choosing Kenai Fjords Tours!

An unforgettable experience!
We had the most fabulous trip! We didn't board until 11 am, plenty of time to drop off our bags from the cruise. We saw several pods of orcas, humpback whales including a baby showing off, sea lions, a sea otter, lots of birds; bonus sightings were mountain goats, a black bear, and a harbor seal. And, of course, a glacier- our ship came within a quarter mile, very much up close and personal. Captain Shelley was fantastic in narration as well as steering. A chicken burrito was provided for lunch - not too spicy even for a finicky eater. Get the refillable mug for soda, coffee, tea, hot chocolate!
Response from the operator: Thank you for the wonderful review! We're thrilled you had such an incredible day and were able to see so much wildlife, including orcas, humpbacks, a bear, mountain goats, and the glacier. We'll be sure to share your kind words with Captain Shelley. We appreciate you joining us and hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable adventure!

Why this scores 70
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Seward Shore Excursion: Pre- or Post-Cruise Kenai Fjords National Park Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Seward.
How much does Seward Shore Excursion: Pre- or Post-Cruise Kenai Fjords National Park Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $231 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Seward usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Seward Shore Excursion: Pre- or Post-Cruise Kenai Fjords National Park Tour take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Seward is not rushed.
Is Seward Shore Excursion: Pre- or Post-Cruise Kenai Fjords National Park Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 65 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Seward, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Seward Shore Excursion: Pre- or Post-Cruise Kenai Fjords National Park Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Seward Shore Excursion: Pre- or Post-Cruise Kenai Fjords National Park Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Seward Shore Excursion: Pre- or Post-Cruise Kenai Fjords National Park Tour?
+
Around 23 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Seward can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Seward and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Seward Shore Excursion: Pre- or Post-Cruise Kenai Fjords National Park Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Seward within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Seward?
+
Seward is the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park: day cruises to tidewater glaciers, whale and puffin watching, glacier hikes on Exit Glacier and halibut charters. On Outty we rank every Seward experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kenai Fjords National Park Glacier & Wildlife Cruise, Full-Day Kenai Fjords National Park Northwestern Cruise, Full-Day Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Seward?
+
Late May to early September. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Seward?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
