Bardy’s Trail Rides offers a one‑of‑a‑kind horseback experience in Seward, Alaska, just minutes from the harbor, train depot, and cruise ship terminal. We’re easy to find—only two miles from the waterfront—yet our trails feel a world away, winding through lush rainforest, open grasslands, and along the shores of Resurrection Bay. Our goal is to keep rides small, personal, and story‑driven. With a maximum of six riders per tour, everyone can hear the guide’s stories about local wildlife, Alaska’s history, and the 1964 earthquake that reshaped Seward. No prior horse experience is needed; we welcome all levels and carefully match each rider with a suitable horse, including considerations for riders up to 275 lb.

    Beautiful scenery and lovely ride

Wonderful horseback riding experience. Beautiful ride thru streams and fields. The two guides were warm, personable and very experienced with horses. All of that said, if you have never ridden before this may not be the trail ride for you because there are some tricky parts of the trail for beginners.

Amazing Trail Ride with Beautiful Views and Great Guides!

We did the Seward Trail Ride with Bardy’s Trail Rides and had a fantastic experience. We rode through beautiful wooded trails that opened up into a gorgeous meadow with stunning, expansive views of the mountains — truly breathtaking! The ride also included several river crossings, which were so much fun and added an adventurous touch to the trip. We were joined by two canine companions who came along for the ride — they were so adventurous and absolutely hilarious, making the experience even more memorable. The guides were wonderful: knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe. I highly recommend Bardy’s Trail Rides if you’re looking for a fun and scenic horseback adventure in Seward. Can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful ride through forest, rivers and scenery of the ocean

Probably the best trail ride I have ever been on! I went with my daughter and bonus daughter- ages 13 and 11. It was such a mix of terrain and infinite beauty…we rode through natural forest where the Alaska earthquake left old cars and demolished homes, crossed rivers and streams, rode down by the ocean where people were sockeye salmon fishing and the cruise ships come into port, watched the multitude of adult and juvenile Eagles soaring around and carrying salmon up and away, all the while the two silly puppies roll around in the dirt and chased after each other along the entire ride. The horses are very gentle and well trained. No issues at all on the ride! Our guide was a very motivated young woman, who has a deep love for those horses and plans to become a nurse in the future. We were running late since we were driving from Homer, Alaska to the trail ride, and fortunately the other couple was willing to wait for us. We are so very appreciative that they were accommodating for us!

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Seward.

How much does 2-Hour Horseback Trail Ride in Seward cost?

    +

Prices start at $328 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Seward usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 2-Hour Horseback Trail Ride in Seward take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Seward is not rushed.

Is 2-Hour Horseback Trail Ride in Seward worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 49 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Seward, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 2-Hour Horseback Trail Ride in Seward?

    +

Is 2-Hour Horseback Trail Ride in Seward suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 2-Hour Horseback Trail Ride in Seward?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Seward can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Seward and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Seward?

    +

Seward is the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park: day cruises to tidewater glaciers, whale and puffin watching, glacier hikes on Exit Glacier and halibut charters. On Outty we rank every Seward experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kenai Fjords National Park Glacier & Wildlife Cruise, Full Day Kenai Fjords National Park Northwestern Cruise, Kenai Fjords and Resurrection Bay Half Day Wildlife Cruise. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Seward?

    +

Late May to early September. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Seward?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
