We had a great time but...
We had a great time but part of the experience was spoilt due to the amount of waiting around. We booked the transportation too, pickup from Lisbon and once collected and we arrived, we had about 1hr of waiting around. Then we did the kayaking and about 1.5hrs waiting around. It made for a long half-day trip with what was as much waiting around as the active duration. The staff were great however.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the kayaking experience and appreciated our team. We’re sorry that the waiting time affected your overall experience. For guests booking the Lisbon transfer, the schedule and waiting times are clearly indicated on the Viator listing: arrival in Sesimbra is before 09:30, the activity starts at 10:00, and the return transfer departs at 14:30. We also suggest using this time to enjoy a walk around Sesimbra’s fishing port. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you again for a more enjoyable experience.

Great experience!
We made a kajak-tour and dolphin watching and both activities were great. We were very well taken care of and received lots of interesting information about the area and the dolphins. It was a wonderful experience!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed both the kayak tour and dolphin watching, and that our team took good care of you throughout the experiences. It’s great to know that you appreciated the information about the area and, of course, our dolphins! We hope to welcome you back to Sesimbra for another unforgettable adventure.

Not suitable for beginners or an adult kayaking with a young child
The tour guide was very friendly and the scenery was lovely, but I found this tour far too physically demanding for beginners. I was paired with my 9-year-old daughter, who tried her hardest to help, but the constant waves from speeding boats and kayaking in the sea were too much for her. She became frightened several times as we fell far behind the group and struggled to keep up. By the time we reached the wild beach, we were both exhausted. We therefore missed the caves and stayed on the beach while the rest of the group continued. On the return journey, we quickly began struggling again. Because of the intense exertion in the heat, I started to feel sick. We fell so far behind that the guide eventually waited and towed us for part of the journey, although it felt as though this was only offered once our delay began affecting the group’s return time. A support boat was mentioned during the briefing, but no support boat was offered or called, despite it being clear that we were struggling. This tour would probably be enjoyable for two capable adults who can share the workload. However, I do not believe it is suitable for a beginner adult paired with a young child. Although the guide was friendly, I did not feel that our safety and ability level were properly taken into account.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're genuinely sorry to hear that the tour was more physically demanding than you had anticipated. Kayaking is an outdoor activity that requires a certain level of physical effort, although on the day of your tour the sea conditions were calm, with no wind. The only waves encountered were the occasional wakes created by passing boats, which are normal in this area. Over the years, we have welcomed many families with children of a similar age on this experience, and they have completed the tour comfortably. However, we fully understand that each participant has a different fitness level and confidence on the water, and what feels manageable for some can be much more challenging for others. Our guide remained attentive to the entire group throughout the tour, regularly checking that everyone was comfortable. When it became clear that you and your daughter were becoming tired, she suggested that you rest on the beach while she accompanied the rest of your family and the remaining participants on the short visit to the caves. She then returned to you as planned. On the return journey, she offered to tow your kayak through the section with heavier boat traffic. This decision was made to make that part of the route easier and more comfortable for you, rather than because the group was being delayed. We appreciate your comments, as they help us continue to explain the physical requirements of the activity as clearly as possible so that future guests can choose the experience that best suits their expectations and abilities. We hope that, despite the difficulties you experienced, you were still able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Arrábida coastline, and we thank you once again for your feedback.

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Sesimbra - Half-Day Kayak Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Sesimbra - Half-Day Kayak Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $40 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Sesimbra - Half-Day Kayak Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Sesimbra - Half-Day Kayak Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 57 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Sesimbra - Half-Day Kayak Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Sesimbra - Half-Day Kayak Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Sesimbra - Half-Day Kayak Tour?
+
Around 20 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Sesimbra - Half-Day Kayak Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
