A wonderful 5 days in the albanian alps

Grateful to the good folk at Balkans Sierma & Brikenna (office), Ervin (tour guide) and Ronis (driver) who took excellent care of us during the 5 days. They really made all the difference! We particularly enjoyed Valbona!】

    amazing

Ask for Sierma & Bricenna to handle your tour. Very obliging and responsive. Ervin was an excellent guide throughout our walk. He’s a mountaineer and volunteers in emergency services so you can’t go wrong. Ronis our driver was a careful and safe driver through the windy mountain roads and very pleasant

    Breathtakingly Beautiful

Right from the start, Choose Balkans stood out compared to all the other tour companies I had tried to contact. They were accessible by phone and on WhatsApp. They responded comprehensively and promptly. They took the time to answer the many questions I had. Sierma and Brikenna were outstanding. They always returned my calls. There wereeven occasions when they contacted me on their day or while on vacation because I had a question (I didn't know they were away from work). When we arrived in Tirana for the trip, they met us, briefed us and took care of all the arrangements - pick up from the airport, hotels, everything. Even the non office staff were outstanding - Ervin our experienced guide who is also a mountaineer without whom we would have had a very tough time on the hike, and Ronis, our driver who was safe, reliable, prompt and always accommodating. Choose Balkans deserves more than 5 stars on my scale. And I've engaged many tour companies over the lost two decades. Thank you Sierma, Brikenna, Ervin and Ronis.

    Breathtaking hike

The Albanian Alps is certainly breathtaking and a must see for adventurous travelers. My mountain guide Albi is very knowledgeable in Albanian culture and history so I learned a lot from him during the hike. I am so grateful not only to enjoy the breathtaking views but also nice interaction with the locals. I highly recommend doing this tour as it takes care of the logistics of accommodation, food (breakfast) and transportation. That makes hiking much more enjoyable.

Fantastic hiking around Valbonë and Theth

Fantastic hikes around Valbonë and Theth! Please note, this is proper alpine hiking. A good level of fitness and agility is needed. There's a lot of altitude gain and some ascents are steep, but it's very much worth it. Our guide, Ervin was terrific. He is full of local knowledge, and upon request was able to lead us on an additional 6km hike to see some of the bunkers near Theth, close to the border with Montenegro. All accommodation and transport was sorted out, and was great quality. Our accommodation in Theth was in a renovated 19th century house, which was a very nice touch. During one of the hikes, one of our members unfortunately suffered an injury. Choose Balkans were absolutely amazing and arranged alternative transport for her, so she could follow the group. Accidents will happen occasionally, and we could not have received more support from Choose Balkans. Thank you very much.

Semi-Private Tour;Peaks of the Balkans-Theth,Valbona & Koman Lake: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tirana.

How much does Semi-Private Tour;Peaks of the Balkans-Theth,Valbona & Koman Lake cost?

    +

Prices start at $1062 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tirana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Semi-Private Tour;Peaks of the Balkans-Theth,Valbona & Koman Lake take?

    +

Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tirana is not rushed.

Is Semi-Private Tour;Peaks of the Balkans-Theth,Valbona & Koman Lake worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Tirana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Semi-Private Tour;Peaks of the Balkans-Theth,Valbona & Koman Lake?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Semi-Private Tour;Peaks of the Balkans-Theth,Valbona & Koman Lake suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 120-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Semi-Private Tour;Peaks of the Balkans-Theth,Valbona & Koman Lake?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tirana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tirana and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Semi-Private Tour;Peaks of the Balkans-Theth,Valbona & Koman Lake start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tirana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tirana?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tirana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include From Tirana / Durres: Gamti Mountain and Bovilla lake Day Trip, From Tirana- Hiking Tour to Bovilla Lake & Gamti Mountain, Berat Cooking Class- Traditional Albanian Cooking Class /By Vato. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tirana?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tirana?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
