What you'll see and do
Temple of Poseidon
Set out to a private sunset day trip to Cape Sounion. Our trip starts with a wonderful drive along the Athens Rivera. During this relaxing ride you’ll enjoy splendid views of the Saronic Gulf while passing through some of Athens’ most beautiful suburbs, including Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, and Varkiza. Arriving at the Cape Sounion, you will visit the 5th century B.C. Temple of Poseidon with its magnificent panoramic view of the Aegean Sea (on a clear day you can see several islands). Cape Sounion has long played an important part in Greek mythology and history, and the first recorded mention of it occurs in the Odyssey, as the last safe landing before Poseidon scattered the returning Greek navy. As god of the sea, Poseidon was very important for ancient Greeks, and the scale of the Temple at Cape Sounion reflects that. After visiting the Temple, filled from the beauty, the history and the culture of this site you are set to admire one of the most amazing sunsets you could ever imagine.

Totally worth it
A fantastic trip to the Temple of Poseidon: stunning views, an incredible setting, and absolutely worth the journey from Athens. George, our guide, made the experience even better. He was knowledgeable and also very relaxed and easy to talk to. Rather than simply delivering facts, he was a genuinely good conversationalist, which made the history and context much more engaging. Pretty cool guy overall and great company for the trip. Would definitely recommend both the experience and the guide.

10/10 sunset view + relaxing car + good tour
The private tour Sounio tour was fantastic! I really loved and enjoyed it — the sunset view at the Temple of Poseidon was truly beautiful. My guide, Nathan was professional, very kind, and incredibly intelligent and knowledgeable about the various histories, myths, and contemporary life of Greek culture. He was a fantastic guide with lots of information on economy to geography — and I highly appreciated his perspective. The car was very nice, and I appreciated the good dinner recommendation. Overall, a fantastic tour and will recommend it to my friends and family! :)

Temple of Poseidon
Thanks for our great evening with you earlier, Theo, it has been truly memorable. We have had a great few hours, and have seen some amazing places, most of all the Temple of Poseidon with the amazing sunset. To top it all off was our fantastic dinner. However, your company and fantastic tunes in the car made it a truly memorable evening for our 29th wedding anniversary. Ευχαριστώ πολύ Mark & Michelle

Semi-Private Cape Sounion Sunset Tour with Dinner Stop: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Semi-Private Cape Sounion Sunset Tour with Dinner Stop cost?
+
Prices start at €67 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Semi-Private Cape Sounion Sunset Tour with Dinner Stop take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Semi-Private Cape Sounion Sunset Tour with Dinner Stop worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Semi-Private Cape Sounion Sunset Tour with Dinner Stop?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Semi-Private Cape Sounion Sunset Tour with Dinner Stop suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Semi-Private Cape Sounion Sunset Tour with Dinner Stop?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Semi-Private Cape Sounion Sunset Tour with Dinner Stop start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis, Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Acropolis E-bike Tour With Entrance Tickets. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Semi-Private Cape Sounion Sunset Tour with Dinner Stop?
