    Very moving and poignant tour

The only thing that let the tour down was we didn’t get the full tour of Auschwitz Birkenau as they said they were cutting it short due to the weather but the rain had stopped when we got back on the bus so that was a shame

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you felt the visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau was shortened and that there wasn’t enough time for reflection. We understand how important this experience is and how meaningful it can be to have sufficient time at each part of the site. The visit is carried out according to the museum’s official schedule and regulations, which can sometimes require adjustments on the day depending on timing, weather, or site coordination. However, we appreciate your comments and will pass them on to our team for review to help improve future experiences. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

    Solemn, historical

Sobering to say the least. We saw Birkenau from the exterior. We saw railcars for transporting victims. About 2-2.5 hours to tour inside of Auschwitz camp, mostly block buildings with exhibits that range from informative to chilling. Information is presented well (plenty of English), with respect and dignity.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your thoughtful feedback. We appreciate you sharing your reflections on such a sobering and emotional experience. We are glad to hear that you found the visit informative and respectfully presented, and that the exhibitions and historical information helped convey the significance of the site with dignity and care. Visits to Auschwitz and Birkenau leave a lasting impression on many people, and we are grateful you took the time to share your experience. Your feedback is very important to us and helps us continuously improve our services. Thank you again for your review, and we hope to see you again in the future.

Good experience, more info would have made it better

This was a good way to get to Auschwitz, and overall we enjoyed our self-guided experience. Our driver was very kind and drove safely, and the bus was comfortable. There were gaps in communication with the guide company, though, that would have made the trip much better. Firstly, we did not realize that our tickets would be for a time after our arrival and we had to wait outside for around 50 minutes before we could enter. We also were supposed to receive a guidebook according the listing details, but none were provided to us. Lastly, we were told that we needed to be back at the bus to go back to Krakow by 8:20 PM and were not told anything about when Auschwitz or Birkenau closed. Given the 8:20 PM timeline, we got on the shuttle to Birkenau around 7:00 PM. When we arrived at Birkenau we were told it was closing in 5 minutes so we did not really get to see it. Had we known that it would be closing we would have left earlier. Fine experience overall, but filling in those details for guests would have been helpful.

Self-Guided Tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum with Transportation: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Krakow.

How much does Self-Guided Tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum with Transportation cost?

    +

Prices start at $1 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Krakow usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Self-Guided Tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum with Transportation take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Krakow is not rushed.

Is Self-Guided Tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum with Transportation worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 34 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Krakow, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Self-Guided Tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum with Transportation?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Self-Guided Tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum with Transportation suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Self-Guided Tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum with Transportation?

    +

Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Krakow can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Krakow and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Self-Guided Tour of Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum with Transportation start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Krakow within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Krakow?

    +

On Outty we rank every Krakow experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Complete Cracow Bike Tour (small group of maximum 15 people!), Krakow–Zakopane: Cable Car, Chocholow Baths, Cheese & Vodka, Krakow: Zakopane & Hot Springs Tour with Cable Car (Hotel Pickup). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Krakow?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Krakow?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
