Big Day with the Big 5
After spending the last month visiting game parks in both South Africa and Namibia, didn’t think I would get the most amazing experience yet at Schotia Game Reserve. Understanding these are more controlled environments didn’t take away from having the Big 5 almost nose-to-nose to you in the open safari vehicle. Going in low winter season meant only a handful of other vehicles and a superb Guide in Toku who found every hidden path to ensure the maximum experience with these amazing animals - cannot say enough about this tour.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're delighted that Schotia Game Reserve became the highlight of your Southern African safari adventure. We'll be sure to pass your kind words on to Toku—he'll be thrilled to know he made your experience so memorable. We hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable safari soon!

Great experience in an open safari car
It was fun with the open safari cart! It was a great tour with lots of rhinos, zebras and giraffes. Unfortunately, we did not see a lion, but others who came to meet us. Tour is highly recommended!

Great game reserve with good opportunities for discovery. But poor transportation organization.
The Game Reserve is very nice and offers plenty of possibilities. Our guide Jen made an effort and was also friendly and funny. In the end we were rewarded with the discovery of a small pack of lions. Only the outward transport was deficient. No contact in advance, initially no one at the meeting point at the cruise terminal. Can only be found after a delay and additional route outside the port area. That's better!

Very nice safari in open Jeap
Very nice safari, have spotted 4 of the 5 Big 5. Our guide was very experienced and passed on a lot of information. Can recommend the tour at any time

Worth the money and time. Highly recommended and not to be missed.
Overall tour was amazing from beginning to end. The pick up staff was on time, communication was excellent, and drop off time was accurate. We made the booking on the same day and Viator made it happen. Grateful for Viator and Rawson Tour. (Tour provider) Frank was already at the pick up location when we arrived. He drove us to the Safari Private Game Reserve. Tucus-our safari 4x4 driver made stops for us to watch the animals roaming in the reserve land. We saw all the animals advertised in the tour. The weather was sunny and a bit chilly. Bring a windbreaker or light jacket. Overall-we can’t asked for a better tour and weather. Wonderful experience!

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Schotia Tooth & Claw Safari–The Ultimate Big5 Wildlife Experience: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Port Elizabeth.
How much does Schotia Tooth & Claw Safari–The Ultimate Big5 Wildlife Experience cost?
+
Prices start at $2100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Port Elizabeth usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Schotia Tooth & Claw Safari–The Ultimate Big5 Wildlife Experience take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Port Elizabeth is not rushed.
Is Schotia Tooth & Claw Safari–The Ultimate Big5 Wildlife Experience worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Port Elizabeth, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Schotia Tooth & Claw Safari–The Ultimate Big5 Wildlife Experience?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Schotia Tooth & Claw Safari–The Ultimate Big5 Wildlife Experience suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Schotia Tooth & Claw Safari–The Ultimate Big5 Wildlife Experience?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Port Elizabeth can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Port Elizabeth and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Schotia Tooth & Claw Safari–The Ultimate Big5 Wildlife Experience start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Port Elizabeth within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Port Elizabeth?
+
On Outty we rank every Port Elizabeth experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Whale, Dolphin & Penguin Island Cruise, Addo Elephant Full Day Safari with a Traditional South African Braai (BBQ) Lunch, Addo Elephant National Park All Inclusive Full-Day Safari. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Port Elizabeth?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Port Elizabeth?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
