Not great!
If you get the right guide I’m sure it’s a lovely day in beautiful surroundings but sadly we didn’t!. The party of 15 people consisted of all lovely Ukrainian people and us (4 friends from Uk) from the start we felt very ostracised and left out as everyone was speaking Ukrainian … Specifically the host! He made little effort to speak English to us and we had to even rely on other passengers to translate the instructions he was giving even when they were safety instructions regarding our trip. He made little effort to speak English when telling our group about the area and eco surroundings.l and when he did attempt English it was very poor. To be perfectly honest it spoilt our day and we felt very left out. The return journey really didn’t need to consist of a shop stop over for 20 mins when we were all sat in wet clothes and swimwear. Even when the bus was almost empty he just made no effort to ask if we had had a good day he just continued to speak to the other passengers laughing and joking while we sat in silence in the back.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. Our Saona VIP tour is an international small-group experience, and on this particular day guests from several countries were traveling together. To ensure that everyone felt comfortable and informed, the guide provided information in multiple languages throughout the excursion. We appreciate your comments and are pleased that you were able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Saona Island. Thank you for joining us, and we wish you many wonderful experiences on your future travels.

Our trip to Saona Island...
Our trip to Saona Island was honestly one of the best experiences we’ve ever had—especially traveling with kids. From start to finish, everything felt smooth, safe, and completely stress-free, which is exactly what you want when you’re with family. What really stood out was how private and exclusive the whole experience felt. It never felt crowded or chaotic, which made it so much easier to relax and actually enjoy the day. The kids had plenty of space to play, explore, and just be themselves without us worrying. The beach itself was absolutely breathtaking—crystal-clear turquoise water, soft white sand, and calm waves that were perfect for little ones. And the natural pool was such a highlight! Being able to walk out into shallow, warm water in the middle of the ocean was incredible, and the kids loved spotting starfish and splashing around safely. A special shoutout to our guide, Sergio—he was so patient, kind, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire trip. He made sure everyone was comfortable, answered all our questions, and truly went above and beyond to make the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was the perfect mix of beauty, relaxation, and family-friendly fun. If you’re looking for a peaceful, private escape that still works beautifully with kids, Saona Island is 100% worth it.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are delighted to hear that you and your family had such a memorable experience on Saona Island. A special thank you for your kind words about Sergio — we will be sure to pass them along. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Dominican Republic for more unforgettable memories!

The overall experience...
The overall experience was fine, but we would have liked it if they specified that the whole tour would be in Ukranian, the guide knows Spanish, but most of the time they have been speaking in their language. But we usually had a good time.
Response from the operator: Muchas gracias por compartir su experiencia. ☀️🌴

Why this scores 50
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Saona VIP Island One Day in Paradise Small Group: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Punta Cana.
How much does Saona VIP Island One Day in Paradise Small Group cost?
+
Prices start at $165 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Punta Cana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Saona VIP Island One Day in Paradise Small Group take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Punta Cana is not rushed.
Is Saona VIP Island One Day in Paradise Small Group worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.9/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Punta Cana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Saona VIP Island One Day in Paradise Small Group?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Saona VIP Island One Day in Paradise Small Group suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Saona VIP Island One Day in Paradise Small Group?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Punta Cana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Punta Cana and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Saona VIP Island One Day in Paradise Small Group start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Punta Cana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Punta Cana?
+
On Outty we rank every Punta Cana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Punta Cana Zipline - 8 lines and a suspenseful hanging bridge, Punta Cana Buggy or ATV Tour with Macao Beach, Cave and Tastings, Buggy Excursion to Macau Beach and Natural Cave. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Punta Cana?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Punta Cana?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
