Incredible Family Day on Saona Island on a Beautiful Catamaran❤️
All I can say is “Oh my goodness”!!! Hands down this was the highlight of my husband, 3 daughters’ and my vacation! The crew went above and beyond to make this an incredible experience for all of us. Our daughters’ range from 7 to 15 years old and everyone had the best time!! We saw many fish, stingray and giant starfish. Saona is breathtaking!! We highly recommend this tour to everyone who wants a smaller and more personal time on a beautiful catamaran. Just do it!!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We’re thrilled that your family had such an unforgettable experience aboard the Quetzal. Our crew will be delighted to hear your kind words. Saona truly is a breathtaking place, and we’re so happy you could enjoy it together. We hope to welcome you all back for another amazing adventure!

Could be better
It was described as a small group tour. We expected it to be between 10 and 15 people, it was 25. But it was a larger boat so it didn't seem crowded. It starts early and since we stayed at all inclusive place, we could not grab breakfast. They did provide a nice lunch later in the day. But the late morning snack was sliced bread with cheese slice or ham and cheese. Really expected better. We have been on other small group tours and they provide continental breakfast: muffins, croissants, fruits, etc. The crew was great. The bar was subpar. No mixers for the cocktails, basically coke or sprite.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to read that you enjoyed our crew and that, despite the number of guests on board, the spacious catamaran never felt crowded. Regarding the group size, our tour is indeed a small-group experience, with a maximum of 28 guests aboard a 25-meter catamaran offering large indoor and outdoor areas. This is very different from many excursions in the area that often carry 70 to 100+ passengers on board. We also intentionally organize early departures (your hotel pickup was at 7:10 a.m.) to avoid the crowds at the snorkeling sites and beaches. One of the highlights of our tour is that we have our own private beach area, away from the large excursion groups where several hundred visitors can share the same beach at the same time. Concerning the food, we actually serve refreshments throughout the day: coffee, tea, juice and pastries at our office before departure, coffee and fresh bananas on board in the morning, sandwiches after snorkeling, chips on the beach, and a freshly prepared lunch served on board around 1:30 p.m. As for the cocktails, we offer classic Caribbean drinks such as rum with cane sugar, fresh lime and Sprite, along with beer, wine and soft drinks. Unfortunately, as we operate on a boat, using electric blenders for frozen cocktails is not possible due to the onboard power limitations. We truly appreciate your comments, as they help us continue improving our experience, and we hope you still leave the Dominican Republic with wonderful memories of Saona Island. Quetzal Team

No Pickup Details, No Answers, No Tour
I had a very disappointing experience with this booking. I booked this tour two weeks in advance. The operator told me they would contact me the day before with pickup details and instructions, but I never heard from them. I reached out multiple times by message and received no response. I also called several times, and no one answered. With no pickup information and no way to contact the operator, I had no idea if the tour was still happening. This completely ruined my plans for the day. Since I was waiting to hear back from them, it was too late to book another activity. I would be very cautious when booking with this company. Based on my experience, they may not respond when you need them most.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your review, and first of all, please accept our sincere apologies. Unfortunately, this was entirely due to a human error on our side. We understand how frustrating this must have been, especially after booking your tour two weeks in advance. As soon as we realized the mistake, we contacted you immediately and offered you two options: a full refund or the opportunity to join the excursion the following day. We completely understand that this did not make up for the inconvenience or the disruption to your plans. This situation is not representative of the level of service we strive to provide, and we have already taken steps with our team to ensure it does not happen again. We are truly sorry for your experience and hope you will give us the opportunity to welcome you back in the future so we can provide the experience we are known for. Quetzal Team

Calm beautiful ride to island instead of speed boat .
Lovely boat and has small indoor space in case it rains . Boat ride lovely instead of speed boat . Quiet and great lunch . But if want to dance , back of boat and quiet in the front . Can arrange for transfer $35 a person fun Punta Cana for 2-3 families much better than large bus . If traveling with kids , bring your own snacks as this is a full day tour and only have lunch and one snack of ham and cheese sandwich . Crew is great as well as owners who worked with me to get a last minute booking . Highly recommend . Very professional . Only snacks holding out for 5 star review . Book it !
Response from the operator: Thank you so much! 😊 We’re glad you loved the boat, lunch, and relaxed vibe. Thanks for the tip on snacks—we’ll work on it! Hope to see you again soon !

Saona Island small group and relax - luxury catamaran: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Romana.
How much does Saona Island small group and relax - luxury catamaran cost?
+
Prices start at $169 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Romana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Saona Island small group and relax - luxury catamaran take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Romana is not rushed.
Is Saona Island small group and relax - luxury catamaran worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 90 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 625 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in La Romana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule Saona Island small group and relax - luxury catamaran?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Saona Island small group and relax - luxury catamaran suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Saona Island small group and relax - luxury catamaran?
+
Around 219 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Romana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Romana and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Saona Island small group and relax - luxury catamaran start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Romana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in La Romana?
+
On Outty we rank every La Romana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group: Saona Island Full Day Tour, Hip hop boat party punta cana live Dj & OPEN BAR soca dancehall, Budget Punta Cana Airport Transfers-Cap Cana, Bavaro, Uvero Alto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit La Romana?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in La Romana?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
