    Beautiful day at Isla Saona!

We visited Isla Saona with Punta Cana Extrema, our contact was Kelmy Rojas and she was excellent. From transportation to and from our place, to Isla Saona and back it was great. Good vibes, music and drinks on board and excellent food and service on the Island. This was and all day excursion and so worth it. The staff was amazing and personable I would highly recommend and would use their services again.

Response from the operator: Milagros! Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for choosing Punta Cana Extrema for your Isla Saona experience! We are truly happy to hear that you had such a great time and that every part of the excursion — from transportation, music, drinks, food, and service — helped create a memorable experience for you. Your kind words about Kelmy Rojas mean a lot to us. Providing attentive communication and making sure our guests feel comfortable and cared for from beginning to end is something we deeply value. We are also delighted that our team’s energy and hospitality made a positive impression on you. Creating fun, authentic, and enjoyable experiences is exactly what we strive for every day. Thank you again for your recommendation and trust in our services. It would be an absolute pleasure to welcome you back for another adventure in paradise! Punta Cana Extrema

Tourist trap from start to end

This experience was painful to be honest. From the first moment to the very last. Bus journey comfortable, but the driver was constantly honking.. super annoying after 2847362 honks and 10h day. The pick up was at 7:15, but we only reached the boat at 10:50… then we had to wait 40mins for some bracelets and for the boat to arrive because all the boats had already left and we were the last group.. Right there someone was taking pictures for “security reasons” as he called… have a look at the end to see the biggest scam The tour guide was useless, even more lost that we were. The rest of the staff, apart from one female photographer who was nice, were super rude (especially the main photographer “tchu chi” or smothering like that) just because we didn’t want the photos. My wife slipped going in the boat and the 2 staffs that were near her completely ignored … Everything was supper rushed. The natural pool was nice, even if it was super crowded. The snorkling was a joke… they put everyone on a small square foot of the ocean, throw bread to fishes to make them appear for us, and only gave us goggles … Once we arrive the beach we had to wait another 30’ for crappy food, and poor drinks at the “open bar” Not to mention the constant vendors always trying to make us buying stuff. The beach had great views, but as a beach lacks of actually beach stuff.. the sun is covered by the trees, and it’s impossible to swim from all the rocks on the water. For the return at the catamaran, it was the only good thing, very nice and enjoyable, though the transfer into the catamaran was super dangerous. The final scam is when one gentleman enters our bus to sell mamajuana with (imagine) our “security pictures” on it… Definitely will not a be experience I recommend.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent excursion experience. We are genuinely sorry to hear that certain aspects of the day did not meet your expectations, as our team works hard to provide guests with a safe and enjoyable experience while showcasing the beauty of our country. We would, however, like to respectfully clarify several points mentioned in your review. First, regarding transportation logistics, this excursion operates with shared transportation service rather than private transfer. For this reason, pickup routes involve collecting guests from multiple hotels and accommodations before proceeding to Bayahibe port. The transfer to Bayahibe itself takes approximately 60 minutes, and boarding schedules are coordinated according to maritime operations, with departures generally occurring between 10:30 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. While we understand early pickups and waiting periods may feel long, these logistics are standard for group excursions operating in the region. Concerning the photography service, photos are offered by independent staff members as an optional souvenir service and represent an important source of income for many local workers on the island. At no point is purchasing photographs mandatory. The pictures taken upon arrival are commonly used to help identify guests throughout the excursion experience and later offered as optional keepsakes for those interested. We were also concerned to read your comments regarding staff behavior and your wife’s slip while boarding. Guest safety and hospitality are extremely important to us, and we sincerely regret if you felt insufficiently assisted at that moment. We will nevertheless review your comments internally with the operational team. Regarding the snorkeling activity, the experience is designed as a recreational introductory snorkeling stop suitable for guests of varying skill levels. Fish are naturally attracted to the area, and the activity is intended as a fun and accessible experience rather than a professional diving excursion. As for the food and beverages, we are sorry they did not align with your personal expectations. The buffet lunch is prepared and presented by dedicated kitchen staff committed to offering guests a quality meal experience on the island. The beverages served at the open bar include Barceló Rum and Presidente Beer, both widely recognized Dominican premium products that represent part of our local culture and hospitality. The island environment itself is also part of the authentic Caribbean experience. As with many public tropical destinations, local vendors operate within designated areas offering crafts, souvenirs, and local products to visitors. While we understand this may not appeal to every traveler, it forms part of the local island economy that supports many families in the community. We are pleased to know that you enjoyed the catamaran return portion of the excursion and the beautiful scenery of the beach, even though other aspects of the day did not fully meet your expectations. We sincerely appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue reviewing and improving our services. While we respectfully believe the excursion was operated according to the advertised format and inclusions, we truly regret that your overall perception of the experience was disappointing. We wish you all the best in your future travels and thank you again for sharing your perspective.

Horrible the people in charge were 1 hour late for pick up and then the bus broke down. After we were suppose to go at 7am we ended up arriving to the marina at 10:30. When I book the tour it included seafood when we got there they said fry fish and lobster were extra Not happy camper at all

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We sincerely regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. Although there was an unforeseen operational issue with the assigned transport unit that day, we want to clarify for future travelers that your confirmed pickup time was 7:20 a.m., and our team maintained continuous communication with you throughout the process, providing updates until the pickup was completed. The affected unit was quickly replaced so that we could continue operations while maintaining the appropriate safety standards. We fully understand that any delays can cause frustration, and we sincerely regret that this situation affected your perception of the day. While this type of incident is not typical of our service, we appreciate your feedback as it allows us to continue improving our logistics and communication. Our commitment is to provide memorable and well-organized experiences, and we regret that we were unable to convey that feeling on this occasion. Punta Cana Extrema Team

    Great Saona

It was a great overall experience and definitely something I would consider doing again. However, the organization could be improved. There were too many vehicle changes throughout the tour, which made the logistics a bit confusing and less comfortable. In addition, our boat ran out of fuel at one point, and we had to wait for another boat to bring more, which caused an unexpected delay. Despite these issues, the experience itself was very enjoyable and worth it.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for highlighting how much you enjoyed the tour and would do it again; it means a lot to us to know that, overall, the experience was fantastic. We sincerely regret the logistical inconveniences you experienced during the excursion. We sometimes make vehicle changes as part of our operational coordination to optimize pickup routes and maintain the overall punctuality of the service, but we fully understand that if this isn't communicated properly, it can be confusing or inconvenient for our customers. We take your feedback to heart and will continue to improve this process and communication during the tour. Regarding the situation with the boat, we apologize for the unexpected delay. Although it was an unusual operational issue and was quickly resolved by the team on site, we understand that it momentarily disrupted the flow of the experience, and we greatly appreciate your understanding. We are happy to know that, despite these setbacks, you enjoyed the tour and found it worthwhile. Feedback like yours helps us continue to refine every detail to offer an increasingly seamless and memorable experience. It will be a pleasure to welcome you back for a future adventure with us. Saona Island Premium Tour with Catamaran Gourmet Lunch & Open Bar: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Punta Cana.

How much does Saona Island Premium Tour with Catamaran Gourmet Lunch & Open Bar cost?

    +

Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Punta Cana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Saona Island Premium Tour with Catamaran Gourmet Lunch & Open Bar take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Punta Cana is not rushed.

Is Saona Island Premium Tour with Catamaran Gourmet Lunch & Open Bar worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 82 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Punta Cana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Saona Island Premium Tour with Catamaran Gourmet Lunch & Open Bar?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Saona Island Premium Tour with Catamaran Gourmet Lunch & Open Bar suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Saona Island Premium Tour with Catamaran Gourmet Lunch & Open Bar?

    +

Around 29 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Punta Cana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Punta Cana and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Saona Island Premium Tour with Catamaran Gourmet Lunch & Open Bar start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Punta Cana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Punta Cana?

    +

On Outty we rank every Punta Cana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Punta Cana Zipline - 8 lines and a suspenseful hanging bridge, Punta Cana Buggy or ATV Tour with Macao Beach, Cave and Tastings, Buggy Excursion to Macau Beach and Natural Cave. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Punta Cana?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Punta Cana?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
