Isla Saona Done Right

Our day in Isla Saona was nothing short of magical, thanks to an incredible crew that treated us like family from start to finish. Joy made everything effortless, from arranging hotel pickup to ensuring every detail was perfect. Captain Omar led the way with skill and warmth, while Sebastian worked magic on the grill, grilling up the most delicious chicken and tender beef right on the boat as we snorkeled. He even brought a homemade sponge cake for dessert! Ceasar, our guide, went above and beyond—patiently helping our 10-year-old with her first snorkeling experience and even standing in a long line just to bring us fresh piña coladas. They took us to a breathtaking semi-private beach, kept us comfortable with coffee, cocktails, and sodas, and made sure we felt at home the entire time. This wasn’t just a tour—it was an experience filled with kindness, fun, and unforgettable memories. If you’re heading to Isla Saona, this is the crew to go with!

Response from the operator: Wow! What a heartfelt and detailed review—thank you so much for sharing your experience! It truly warms our hearts to know that your day on Isla Saona felt magical and that our crew made you feel like family. Joy, Captain Omar, Sebastian, and Ceasar will be thrilled to hear your kind words! From seamless planning to delicious onboard meals and personalized care, we’re so happy we could create such a memorable experience for you and your family. Moments like your daughter's first snorkeling adventure and enjoying fresh piña coladas on a stunning beach are exactly what we strive to provide—unforgettable, stress-free, and full of joy. We’d love to welcome you back for another incredible day on the water whenever you’re ready! Quetzal team

Neverever go to another company for a boat trip! They are the best!

It was an extraordinary exkursion to Saona island. Joy made us a wonderfull day and her team aranged a bbq on the boat while we enjoyed the island and were swimming/snorceling. Just for us they searched and found a shallow place in the sea where they put an umbrella in the water whereunder we could stay for shadow.

Response from the operator: Hi Hamid and thank you so much for your comment on Tripadvisor!! We had a great time with you too and we hope to see you soon... Welcome back to Germany!!!

A perfect excursion to enjoy nature, relax in the sun, have fun with the crew, savor good food/drinks, and make memories

Our day trip to Saono was stunning! Joy was a dream; ensuring the tour went smoothly, our family was comfortable, and she even peppered the excursion with interesting facts and history. She led our snorkeling outting, pointing out a nurse shark, lobsters, crabs, puffer fish, a sting ray, sea stars and more. Captain Omar was not only a skilled boat operator, but added an entertaining flare to our day with his DJ’ing and mixology abilities. Sebastian, the third crew member, grilled an entire delicious meal on the boat while our family swam in the Caribbean Sea. When we were called back to the boat to eat, we were greeted with tuna, shrimp, grilled veggies, and pasta! The coast on Saono island was gorgeous and filled with many picturesque photo-ops. The crew brought drinks, chips, and sandwiches so we could snack between swimming and playing on the beach. 10/10 experience. The sights, activities, music, food and drinks, and crew made this a day our family will never forget.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your message and so happy to see that you enjoyed your tour on the Small Yacht for a Private charter day in family!! Hope to see you soon Quetzal team

Fantastic day - must do trip!!

After a fantastic experience on the Quetzal catamaran last January we just had to come back with the rest of our family this year! We chose the private tour this year, Joy was helpful in tailoring the experience to our needs particularly around departure and arrival time and what we wanted from the day! We were picked up promptly and driven to Bayahibe where the boat was ready for us. The boat is lovely clean and comfortable for up to 6 people. There is an option to play your own music however we opted for the captains playlist which was brilliant! The boat was very fast and a fun experience in itself, the captain even let us drive the boat on the way back! During the day Joy provided us with information about the island, its wildlife and history of original settlers. We first stopped for snorkelling where we saw tropical fish, a nurse shark, sting rays and puffer fish! (Snorkels and fins are provided) We then went on to the island where we enjoyed some free time in the sea walking along the island and enjoying beers and Joys signature cocktails! Saona island truly is paradise, the most beautiful beach any of us had seen with white sand and crystal clear water! Finally we stopped at the natural pools to see the star fish in the still water, you were able to stand up in the shallow water for the most part if you are a less confident swimmer. Sebastian made us a lovely lunch made fresh on the boat, grilled chicken and beef, pesto pasta avocado and chimichuri which we thoroughly enjoyed along with your choice of white or rose wine beer or rum! Overall a fantastic day myself and the family will always remember. Joy even made us a video of the day with drone footage for us to keep and always remember such a special day! Thank you team Quetzal! Jessica & family!

Response from the operator: Hi Jessika family... thank you for that detailed review!!! Such a good time with you, thanks again for you good mood! We are happy to see that you enjoy your private day with our Mini Yacht - Indeed this boat allows us to enjoy much more of each place - so it was the ideal boat for you, cruise passengers! Hope to see you next year! Quetzal Team

Saona island - Private Tour with a Luxury Speed Boat: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Punta Cana.

How much does Saona island - Private Tour with a Luxury Speed Boat cost?

+

Prices start at $1490 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Punta Cana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Saona island - Private Tour with a Luxury Speed Boat take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Punta Cana is not rushed.

Is Saona island - Private Tour with a Luxury Speed Boat worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Punta Cana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Saona island - Private Tour with a Luxury Speed Boat?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Saona island - Private Tour with a Luxury Speed Boat suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Saona island - Private Tour with a Luxury Speed Boat?

+

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Punta Cana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Punta Cana and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Saona island - Private Tour with a Luxury Speed Boat start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Punta Cana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Punta Cana?

+

On Outty we rank every Punta Cana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Punta Cana Zipline - 8 lines and a suspenseful hanging bridge, Punta Cana Buggy or ATV Tour with Macao Beach, Cave and Tastings, Off Road Buggy Adventure. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Punta Cana?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Punta Cana?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
